Craig Reconsidering Resignation

(BOISE, Idaho) —
Sen. Larry Craig is reconsidering his decision to resign after his arrest in a Minnesota airport sex sting and may still fight for his Senate seat, his spokesman said Tuesday evening. "It's not such a foregone conclusion anymore, that the only thing he could do was resign," said Sidney Smith, Craig's spokesman in Idaho's capital. "We're still preparing as if Senator Craig will resign Sept. 30, but the outcome of the legal case in Minnesota and the ethics investigation will have an impact on whether we're able to stay in the fight — and stay in the Senate."

Now I know he needs to go-- this proves he's an idiot-- and we got plenty of them already there.....

FOX news reported that the Idaho newspaper and the blogs have now got several folks that have came forward-- and would testify that they played "footsie" with Craig in times past....

He needs to just gracelessly fade away...

Interestingly tho-- the guy from blogactive.com said that there are several other "hypocrite" closeted gays in D.C. and that they have evidence against them and some may be outed shortly...

Could one be Karl Rove :???:

I agree completely, OT. If he has this much trouble making up his mind about something that important, we sure as hell don't need him making the decisions that impact all of us. He's been a great supporter of rural and western interests over the years, but now...it's time for him to go.

Also....this lack of decisiveness - the wishy/washy nature of his recent decisions....

"I'm guilty."

"No, I'm not."

"I quit."

"No, I don't."

All of this lends credibility to the rumors of him being 'gay.' He's acting just like a woman.

lol Texan, now, now not all women are like that.

OT - the guy has said he is ousting all the closeted gays who vote against gay rights but indulge in it themselves......

The internet news is saying Karl Rove resigned because he and Cheney got into it over the Iran war................ that makes sense to me.

US Constitution could clear Craig

Congress has willingly given up the American people's rights to the Constitution but are quick to bring out something that may benefit their own personal agenda..........

Boy I would love to see him switch to the Democratic party. :lol2:
Wouldn't that create a mess for the dems.

The Democrat blogs are jumping for joy--this is exactly what they want...
They just love this I am, I'm not- I will, I won't...Then a long stretch of legal wrangling-possibly a public trial..Keep it in the news and on everyones minds until election time, probably a messy expensive Republican primary in Idaho-- all of which will smear Republicans as a whole, could possibly put a Democrat in a solid Republican seat...

Blog rumor is that Senator Spector talked him into fighting it- that he could beat it- I'll bet the Dems are just sitting back chuckling now at that decision.....

Doesn't matter if he wins every court case now-- his better than thou virginity is gone-- he is tarnished merchandise now..

This would not happen if there was any type of leadership in the Republican party-- but GW has blown any unity all away..... :(

Exactly what did Craig do that was illegal and/or against the law?

The "disorderly conduct" statute to which Craig pleaded guilty provides that one who knowingly “[e]ngages in offensive, obscene, abusive, boisterous, or noisy conduct or in offensive, obscene, or abusive language tending reasonably to arouse alarm, anger, or resentment in others” is guilty of the misdemeanor of disorderly conduct. Minn. Stat. § 609.72, subd. 1(3) (2004).

Professor Ted Sampsell-Jones (William Mitchell), writes:

Minn. Stat. 617.23, the indecent exposure statute, covers lewd or lascivious conduct in a public place. Sex and masturbation count as lewd and lascivious acts. There is, however, some Minnesota case law suggesting that public restrooms aren't "public places" once you close the door to your stall. State v. Bryant, 177 N.W.2d 800, 803-04 (Minn. 1970).

Even if the completed act would be a crime, it's doubtful that merely asking for sex in the restroom would be a crime.

Minnesota, unlike some jurisdictions, does not have a general solicitation statute. Mere solicitation of a crime is not a crime. State v. Lowrie, 54 N.W.2d 265, 266 (Minn. 1952); State v. Johnson, 2005 Minn. App. Unpub. LEXIS 352 at *9. Minnesota does of course have an attempt statute, 609.17, but that requires a substantial step toward completion of the crime, plus the specific intent to commit the crime. I think it's possible but doubtful that Craig's acts would count as a substantial step, and it's also possible but doubtful that you could infer such a specific intent. Or rather — there's some inference there, but it's not strong enough to support guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Like they say-- all may have been beatable-- and some may be unconstitutional-- but the major crime of Craig is HYPOCRISY now that he has been outed......

He went to the bathroom and tapped his foot.

It must have been some "really provocative foot tapping"...

Craig is looking like a bigger joke all the time with all of the press about his 'phone call' just prior to his statement about resigning. The message that he supposedly left for his lawyer explaining the con job he had in mind for his statement - by saying, 'it is my intent.'

But his lawyer never got the message because he dialed a wrong number. Then he left a voice mail? At a wrong number? What a freakin' idiot...

For those of you that haven't heard the tape of that voice mail, here's a transcript:

"Yes, Billy, this is Larry Craig calling. You can reach me on my cell. Arlen Specter is now willing to come out in my defense, arguing that it appears by all that he knows that I have been railroaded and all that.

"Having all of that, we have reshaped my statement a little bit to say it is my intent to resign on Sept. 30. I think it is important for you to make as bold a statement as you are comfortable with this afternoon, and I would hope you could make it in front of the cameras.

"I think it would help drive the story that I’m willing to fight, that I’ve got quality people out there fighting in my defense, and that this thing could take a new turn or a new shape, it has that potential. Anyway, give me a buzz or give Mike a buzz on that. We’re headed to my press conference now. Thank you. Bye."

If all of this is true, he needs to resign for just being a dumbass.

Let's dust this one off from four years ago:

Much like the pervert ex-Senator Larry Craig, the pervert Congressman Weiner seems to be wanting to fight it out instead of resigning. Is it safe to assume that President Obama is at fault for not providing "any type of leadership" in the Democratic party? Oldtimer?

Geez haven't you learned yet according to Oldtimer Weiner is a DEMOCRAT and the DEMOCRATS are the party of no morals so sexting women including a 17 year old with nude body parts is not a problem. A Republican tapping his foot in the john is criminal but everyone is to just look the other way when the scum of the Democrat party rises to the top.
