Three weeks ago I got a phone call from a friend asking if I was looking for something to do. We've had so much rain that we haven't been able to be doing any field work, and all the shop/yard work was done, so I thought I might be interested. His cousin gave him a car to put in the demolition derby, but he already had one ready so he gave it to me. We stripped the car5 down, and I even got to paint it all pretty for my art final! It was a 1980 Pontiac Pariesenne four door with a 305. We brought the car to the derby on Sunday, and I was interviewed for the news on a small T.V. station we have in our area. I found that pretty cool. In the first heat, I was the only Rookie driver, and I got hung up in the first two minutes. But In the crippler heat I was the third last car running. I blew my transmission lines out and there was no ATF fluid going through the tranny.

Here's just a few pictures of the car after we had put it through the derby. And the Horizon Fertilizers logo on the side was painted on freehand, it is not a decal or a stencil.

How did you feel later that night. I ran those for a few years always had a chiropractor appointment for the monday after the weekend. It got way to expensive to compete here alot of guy's really take it serious.I always ran heavy weight super modified fully welded cars. It's alot of fun is'nt it.You should find yourself a 67 crysler imperial those cars are the toughest there is.Have fun and buckle up.

Here you can't run the Imperials in the Demo Derbys. Against the
rules.

Great job on that lettering, ACS.

Getting that way all over the guy's not willing to invest complained enough to pretty much eliminate them but there are a few that still allow the open modified's.I can't figure why you would eliminate the one set of cars that draw the fans.Fair boards are'nt very smart. Our town fair always had a 100 cars show up then they eliminated the modifieds and cut the prize money now they end up with 15 to 20 cars total for 3 weight classes.

They just had our demo derby up here-I think a Cordoba or Newport won it. It pays $3500 to win it-some pretty good rivalries have built up over the years.

I actually didn't feel too bad, I hurt my elbow a bit, but just enough to make it sore enough to notice it. A Newport was the runner up here, it came second to an old chevy four door. Our payout is only $1500, but you get $100 if you win your heat. You aren't allowed to weld on anything other then mechanical components (Rear end, etc) just none on the frame or body. This year there were thirty cars, enough for six five car heats. Only eight of them didn't get back into one of the crippler heats.

Thanks, FH
