I'll put one more field down today after lunch and I suspect we'll bale ours Thurs or Friday here.

I was surprised how well our hay fields jumped back after the BIG DRY of last year.

Love having a full barn!!

Any fertelizer?
Rolls to the acre?
5 X 5 rolls?
Rake tractor, is it gas?
What kind of cutter? Disk mower? if so where is the cover?
I like your rake and I like to make windrows with a side rake but too slow if you work by yourself in the hay field. I had to go to a "V" rake. I went with 8 wheel but I would like to have a 10 wheel too.
It looks like you got some good feed rolled up.

I dunno how much rain we've got, but it's been comin down steady since about 3 am. Tomorrow and Wednesday is supposed to be major thunder storms with lots of rain.

We didnt trade our old one, just bought this one out right from a fella that was goin outta the hay business. $3000
Haha, I haven't looked at it often enough to even know what model it is. All I know is it's a New Holland.
Haha I looked at one of my pictures...it's a 660...still don't know what year model. But lots newer than our old one. We have a neighbor that only has a square baler that is interested in the Hesston.

Chicken litter, last fall....free! (I like that part, cuz the rest of it STINKS!!!) LOL

3 to the acre. This baler rolls em alot tighter than our old one. It'll prolly be alot different the rest of the cuttins, cuz this one had no johnson grass in it. Was mainly rye grass and vetch. Oh, and it's a 5x6

Rake tractor is a Ford...and it's diesel.

I have no idea what brand cutter it is.....it's a disk cutter. We kid and say it's the one Noah used. The cover has long since been gone, we did improvise a year or two ago and made ahome made cover for it, but it came off durin the last cuttin last year.

The rake belongs to a neighbor...the same one that's interested in our baler. He hates that rake, but it's the only one he has. I don't have a problem usin either one of our own rakes that are pto driven. But Mr Lilly likes this pull behind wheel driven one. Don't make me much difference as long as it does the job. I will say however, that since we used it yesterday, we have a whole bunch of the rubber mounted teeth to replace. The rubber is old and brittle and when I got done, they'd broke off. That's ok, they aren't that expensive....but I'd just as soon use our own equipment. But...I'm just the driver, and hafta drag whatever Mr Lilly hooks up behind it. LOL

I just got in from town and saw the weather and I'm gonna hold off on that last field. We're just gonna get up the 3 fields down so far.....should be OK by Wed PM.

Thanks for the heads up though!!!

You better get to making another cover. It would not be fun if that thing slung a rattle snake up on the driver. I had to take the cover off my first cutter like that. When cutting tall johnson grass it would clog between the cutter bar and the cover. That thing sand blasted my back side every cutting. I also had to wear eye protection to keep the sand out of my eyes. But then again in good thick hay it sure cut good.
What will y'all charge to come roll my hay. My roller is on it's last leg. I will cut and loan y'all two tractors and a rake. Just bring your roller and have at it.

He was talkin about makin another cover for it the other day. Just to be on the safe side. This lil cutter doesn't seem to throw much to the front. It does sling to the back tho. Not sayin that it couldn't.....cuz anything is possible. I'd feel better if it had a cover on it.

Ewwww @ slingin a rattle snake. But...thankfully we don't have that many rattle snakes here. More copper heads, water moccossins(sp) and chicken snakes. I'm sure it wouldn't matter what kind it was, if it slung up on the tractor with him, I'm fairly certain that he'd bale. (Bale as in....off the tractor) if not..he'd be doin some awful powerful arm slingin tryin to rid himself of the snake. LOL

Hehe this reminds me....a year or so ago....while movin some hay....on that same lil yella tractor. A big ole chicken snake had been hidin between the bales, and it was crawlin up under it...wrappin itself around where the back wheel attaches on....meanwhile I'm on the sidelines.....playin mime...makin all kinda hand signals for a snake....it was perdy funny. But when he finally realized what I was "talkin" about with my hands...it didnt take long for him to start lookin around on the tractor for the snake, and git it killed. LOL

As for comin to Alabama to roll yer hay....I don't much thank I could talk him into it LOL
