"EARTHQUAKE"

USGA says "MILD" "4.7" was right under us here in San Martin

Quakes travel like Sound Waves so it was felt more in San Jose - all the Big New on TV

Our "old" house is on a Redwood Foundation and ride out earthquakes well

I wake up at 5:20 AM every day - earthquake hit at that time - I thought that it was V_Key kicking my bed!

I'm AWAKE! I said - :cboy: Way

Glad you made out ok, Old Dog. Earthquakes are creepy and I've only been exposed to one small quake that made the picture on the wall shiver which is nothing compared to your area. Interesting how the
wood houses have an advantage.

nr, Wood houses........ do you mean outhouses??? :p

Katrina,  does " Wood house" mean that in Nebraska??
Never heard that meaning before if it does. Must be a regional
thing. (Guess I shouldn't tell folks I live in a wood house, too. )

I am told I have been around for two earthquales but I can only remmber one.. ABout two years back I was sitting in the living room watching TV way late at night.. All of sudden the pictures and stuff started shaking and the house kind of groaned... I thought it was one of the neighbors driving by with one of his 450HP cat Challengers pulling a manure injector... But thee were no lights... Took me a while to realize it was a quake.. Must have been a .5 or something, lol.

I have two houses here built some time in the mid 1800's
The ground was leveled -> 4"x 6" hart redwood was put down and the house was built on that (on the ground)

Hart Red Wood = no rot or termites

Houses have gone through many Quakes as have I -> for the most part I enjoy them.

The big on (World Series) I had to laugh - V_Key Mom had just sat down on the floor and was rolling around like a ball - - V_Key's TV flew of the shelf and landed on her bed

After Shock the next day -> our big John Deer started to dance from wheel to wheel as we watched it

That quake was centered 5 miles to the West of the house
This one was 5 Miles to the east

Quakes Hit -> 3 to 5 Second and there dun (No Sweat!)

Did you ever get the feeling that someday that 10 mile area might just disappear  The day Mexifornia becomes an island....

The back side of this hill is a cliff - This is the San Andreas Fault Line!

005_20A.JPG

USGS claim there 150+ quakes along this Fault PER DAY! Small "Q" prevent the build-up of presure!

We might feel one light one every 5 years - - I've lived through 3 good quakes and one major one in 67 years.

Our ranch might be 2" closer to the sea but not on an island yet.

I'd like to see it split and we'd have Sea Fountage on both sides (Island and Main Land)
