Let's debate the Lame Duck

Now that the Lame Duck session is drawing to a close, I would like to hear your opinions on how you think it went.

I'll start,

First I believe the Lame Duck should be illegal as a fair amount of those voting in the lame duck have already been told by the voters they were FIRED. Where else do you get to go back into the office and carry on like you still have the job after you have been fired by your bosses? ONLY IN THE US GOVERNMENT.

Second, It seems the Dems were not the only ones that didn't want to vote on some of these issues before the elections. For a party that washed the floor with their opponents in Nov. the Republicans caved on some of the issues WAY TO FAST.

Third The Republicans that take office in Jan better remember just what the voters said to them in Nov. The Republicans can't aford business as usual.

Fourth the Tea Partiers better start taking notice of every vote and those that vote for earmarks and big government spending should have their names added to a list to be challenged. I'm personally watching Scott Brown as he has made a few votes already I really didn't understand when it was the Tea Party voters that put him in a Historical Democrat seat.

The media has made it out as a big win for Obama,

and it appears as if he came out of it as the only winner..

but look at the issues..

Tax breaks .. republican issue...Obama win.. figure that one out? sure it passed.. (temporarily)
only to resurface in time for it to be a 2012 wedge issue..

if the republicans want to win... they need to take it up again this year, say April, when the sting of paying taxes is on American's minds.. and work out a long term "cut"..
(even if it is a compromise we will win and the economy will respond favorably)...

Unemployment extension.. Obama win again, big loss for republicans..

arguing against the extension is a loser with over 17% real unemployment. real Grinch move,... maybe the right thing to do,.. but not worth fighting over today,..

they should have just begrudgingly passed it.. and then reformed the whole process, with a formula for declining benefits over extended time,

DADT,.. Obama win.. why wait so long?... could have been passed a year ago.. but....

can we wait to see how fast the first "discrimination" case is brought?

yep.. now that it is legal... a soldier with a less then stellar record will soon sue.. and rip the scab off the wound...

Start treaty... now the Russians will take it up and see if they want to ratify it... and they will expect US to take huge concessions,.. care to bet if Obama caves to get it passed???

and lets not forget his extension of the drilling bans...

so far.. it looks as if he rammed through most of his agenda.. and gave the American People a shellacking.

The "Lame duck" deal in the US bothers me.

In Canada Parliament is dissolved when an election is called and the newly elected people get to make the decisions.
