Check out Dave Stamey, Wylie Gustovson (he's the voice of the yodel on Yahoo.com) DW Grothe or better yet, just go to cowboy poetry.com and check out music there, for some good names and performers.

Jesse Ballintyne (husband of artist Carrie Ballintyne) only has one cd out, but it's pretty much pure cowboy, from one who lives the life and has a great voice and even has written a couple of nice fiddle tunes. If he kept writing, he'd overtake Tyson or any of the rest. Smooth melodiuos voice and great lyrics.

they have good ads and reviews for most of the good ones at Cowboy Magazine. The magazine has a website and they keep fairly current with recent stories and news from the mag.

Reader2, I clicked on the westernfolklive.org and couldn't find where a disk of the 2004 Cowboy Poetry Gathering is available. Where do you find it, as I would like to order one.

Mike Logan, of Helena, Mt. has been host to that event and he is awesome. He has such a rich voice, still when I read his work, I can
hear him telling the poems. We were lucky that when he started, he 'practiced' on a bunch of us. He was a Spanish teacher and his
voice is remarkable. We'd have a pot luck dinner and watch his
slide show complete with poetry and then just poetry. He does "Behold
a Pale Horse" that will send chills down your back just to hear it.

He has a couple of books of poetry that have been published and
also some books and videos like, "Montana Is', "Yellowstone Is", "Ranchin Is" that is photography with verse. I highly recommend them.
