Liberal blog KOS:lashes out at Captain Phillips

This is only one liberal view of the whole Pirate deal, but it gives you a little insight into some on PB, and what they read. (Blame the victim)

The pirates' modus operandi is that they hold the crew, ship, and cargo harmlessly until a lot of money is paid to them. Phillips "heroic" actions put his crew and himself at risk. If he'd done nothing except acquiesce to the pirates' demands, there would have been no risk, just possible discomfort until the extortion money was paid. Instead he put himself and the Seals at grave risk.

I applaud the crew, the Seals, and the military chain of command for their actions. I think Phillips was in error--if not a grandstander, then greatly misguided. Does anyone know what Maersk's orders to Phillips and the other Maersk masters are in a piracy matter? Probably to do nothing to incite trouble and to notify the shipowner and the U.S. Navy. The captain works for the shipowner and must follow those orders. The master who fails to follow the shipowner's orders is guilty of the crime of barratry if a financial injury to the shipowner results.

I'll include a picture of the article, because they will probably take it down, in short order.

edit:a link to maybe explain where we have heard from DailyKOS before.

The conspiracy minded lurk on both sides of the political spectrum.

The fact remains the guy said it. Wonder what kind of value he puts on his azz while he might be held hostage waiting for someone to blink.

Some idiot blogs an opinion. Opinions are like azzholes, everyone has one.

It's easy to be brave and question someone else's judgement when you're half way around the world from the action.

You shouldn't assume anything.

Did I post that all liberals feel the same way as this blog, or state just the opposite?

Do some on PB read Liberal blogs?

Seems Obama must trust them seeing how he was a "diarist" on their site back in 2005

http://barack-obama.dailykos.com/

As well as he attended their convention back in 2007

Maybe you should start paying a little closer attention to these things and the rest of us would not have to endure a Socialist President because of your ignorance on what is going on!!!!!

Blogs are based on nothing other than opinion and emotion usually. If you read them, it's only as part of a study of human nature, not to gather information in most instances.

That's not always true either. Some blogs are "clearing houses" of actual news reports, some only provide links to facts that the author is basing his opinion on.

But you cannot rely on MSM anymore to not be just opinion and emotion, so I choose to do my reading at many sources, and make up my own mind.

And like PB, you can go to a blog, and gather a lot of information in one place. that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to verify what is written in either!

How dare you insinuate this!!!! I doubt seriously there is a person on this forum that would not find what that blogger wrote outrageous.

Personally, I do not read blogs. AND, for the record, the blogger that wrote this is a POS.

Yep, I'm actually a closet Liberal, and these are a couple of things I believe in:

1) DHS profiling on political views
2) Fairness Doctrine,
3) Mandatory Volunteerism (we need to find a new name for that one, a little contradictory, don't you think)
4) Power to control Internet, thus free speech

If you need links to these factually based ideas that liberals support, let me know!

If I didn't read at least some Liberal Opinions, would I be considered a "Rightwing extremist",

I really don't care what you read? You are a Liberal, and this is a Liberal Opinion. That doesn't mean you agree with it!

I'm not saying that at all. Of course some on PB read liberal opinions, as well as conservative opinions, but to say this particular blogger's opinion would give insight into the liberal leaning people on this board is ludicrous.

Really (ludicrous), read this and tell me that it doesn't somewhat give you some insight into SOME on PB blaming the victim.

Well hypo, now any american caught at see will probably be shot and killed long before help can arrive...All this did was show the pirates that they need to work faster and take lives rather then lose thier own...It certainly will not put an end to piricey on the see....Those who like to take cruises, may be more choosy on which destinations they now choose.....

blog = "web log" The majority of blogs are personal and opinion, not fact. We already know that you are not discriminating. You don't care the source or the veracity, as long as it is ringwing nut supporting.

If you don't read blogs, you wouldn't know that some are opinion based on factual evidence, with links to the facts etc. Some blogs even have video, audio and pictures that are factual, that support the reasoning that the blogger has based his/her opinion on.

And that's why I read mostly Rightwing blogs, they seem to be able to support their opinions with facts, and not just emotions, like the liberal based blogs.

I don't know why conservatives bring facts, we don't even need them. Liberals seem to have their own unique way of proving us right!
