Well it's that time of year, she's workin on her project, gettin ready for the fair. This year she chose to build a horse walker. It's comin along nicely, but I sure do wish it were further along. Always seems that there's last minute things havin to get done, before takin it in to the fair.

Actually got to go buy the paint for it today, it's gonna be red and gray. hoping the body will be red, and the arms gray. With maybe a few of the workin parts red.

Cuttin pipe

Weldin the pipe for the arms to slide into

Welding the frame, that'll hold the cover plates that keep all the workin parts inclosed.

Weldin supports for that transmission to bolt to.

Making the quick release spring loaded snaps that'll be on the end of each arm, in case a horse needs to be let loose in a hurry

It's really startin to look like a horse walker now. Next few days should see some major progress, mounting electric motor, and pully's, and getting it moved outside so we can see it work. Then paint.

Or.................she'll skeer em all off LOL

I aint too worried about her findin a husband just yet. LOL And neither is she. She's got too much planned in the near future to even have a boyfriend. That may change, but so far, she's still got the attitude, that she's too busy for boyfriends.

Lil Lilly is a remarkable and talented young lady. Of course, she comes by this naturally having Jersey Lilly for a mother. Congratulations to both of you for all of your hard work and accomplishments. You both make the world a much better place. Thank you. :)

Soapweed your too kind! All I can say is she's a abitious lil gal. Lots more than I was at her age. Our job is to be here for her and support her, and keep her pointed in the right direction. Along with the help of the good Lord. Very rarely do we ever have any problem at all with her, and when we do it's minor. We were blessed with 2 very good kids, I can't complain at all. They grow up all to fast, soon she'll be in Demodrivers position....graduation. She was lookin at a college 600 miles from home, here the last few months she's been lookin at a few closer to home. So maybe she won't be so far away. Or...maybe she can live at home while attending college. Who knows. LOL

In the last few pictures, notice she's wearin her Alan Jackson jeans. Well......she learned a valuable lesson that day. Her knees blistered from welding!!! Then she got on her horse the next day and it hurt....I somehow missed pictures of that, she had shorts on with her legs vet wrapped around her knees and boots on.....it was priceless. She now realizes how important all the protective gear is, along with havin yer knees covered up. LOL

That's what I noticed. Oh well, live and learn. :D

If she gets bored, just send her up. I think we could find her a welding job.

I had the same thoughts when I saw the jeans.. My thought was one day she is going to get a bit schorched and that will be that when it comes to the holes.. Sometimes the lesson of all the safty equipment can be hard for people to learn.. I know it has been for me from time to time.

Yep,my daddy was a welder..He always had mom use real heavy starch on his work cloths and she'd iron them smooth to keep the sparks from hanging on..
You could have told her why not to wear jeans like that to work, but now she knows why not to .. Lesson learned, not to much damage.(thank goodness)

She and Mr Lilly took off down to the shop before I knew what she had on. If I'd seen her, Ida made her change. But.....when I got there, and noticed...and commented on it, she'd been there for 2 hours or so, and didn't wanna take the time to come home and change. It's one of them, "I told you so" things......not only did I tell her....she learned from it. Which is a good thing. Now she knows, and hopefully will remember and never do that again.
My main concern was a spark jumpin off down in her britches leg......didn't happen, but could have.
Yeap my oldest brother is a welder, and always wore his jeans starched, along with wearin Wrangler work shirts starched so the sparks would roll off.

This hole is so that you can reach in and change gears on the transmission. She's puttin rubber hose that's been split around the edge so that it won't cut you.

Lil Lilly is a fine young lady who is really going to go places and never have to leave home to do it. And with the nice electric walker, her horses can now do the same. :)

WOW

Lil' Lilly did an awesome job on the horse walker! It is so nice to have kids who are talented, keep themselves busy and out of trouble :) Give her a hug from us and a pat on the back :D

She did well at the events, too. That's what FFA and 4-H is all about, learning how to do things and having fun doing them :D
