Those are cool. I"m impressed, a man that took on a decoratin project all by himself.....
I'd like to do somethin similar with either deer skin or cow hide (hair on) but I don't know if it'll ever come to pass. No one's shot a deer round here in 5 years. LOL only thing that they've shot is hogs, and i dont much thank I wanna pigskin hangin over my windows. LOL

LOL yeap I noticed....want me to post my pictures again....just kiddin. hehe
When we built our house, I had no idea what I wanted to do in my kitchen. My mom asked me what I was gonna do, and I'd seen a few chicken/rooster things here and there that I liked. So I told her I'd probably do chickens. Well that clinched it, she went to sending me chickens of ever shape and size. It snowballed, and everyone started gettin me anything and everything that was kitchen related that had roosters and chickens on it. I've lived with somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 chickens in my kitchen for about 5 years now and I'm ready for a change. Sittin in there the other day and I said, "I think I'll paint the kitchen soon, Mr Lilly got that  look and got up and left" He wants no part of redecoratin, leaves those jobs to me. Not that he wouldnt help if I asked him, but he hates paintin (I hate for him to paint too, more ends up on the floor and on him than the walls) I've really been thinkin I want to paint it red. Which is a skeery deal, red's a hard color to pull off and make look good in any room. But red goes so good with a western theme. Yes it makes things dark, but my kitchen walls are lined with windows so I don't think that'd happen in there. There is a job he can do for me tho, I want horseshoes as hardware on my kitchen cabinets. So he'll get to help out in that dept. LOL

Mrs Greg I'll have to give you guyts some bear logs if you ever come up-I think they'd look pretty cool-you can see the bear scratches get bigger every year as the tree grows.

Lilly, I don't know what your kitchen cabinets are like, but my sister-in-law
did her kitchen in red and put some cream color on the cabnets, but not the whole fronts. She painted the inside of the trim on the outside of the cabinets red, makes it look like it's highlighted in red. It's really cute.

Mr nr has a small office that had some paneling which made it too dark and somber. I painted it a cranberry red and our daughter helped pick out white for the trim. She said China White goes well with lots of shades and she was right. Anyway the room is much cozier in red. I'd take a picture of it but the room is so small it would be hard to get a decent shot.
Your horseshoe handles sound fun.

Actually that sounds just about perfect, who knows one day we may take the trip.Hmmm. I just had an idea for a coffee table, bear scratched legs and barnwood top..

Lilly, the red sounds neat.my kitchen the last twelve years has been South west, catuses ect tired of it. Am REALLY considering painting my kitchen cupboards black, then sanding down the edges. Having black rod Iron cowboy things as decoration. You should have seen the sick look on gregs face when I said that.

NO way would I paint my cabinets. I werked too hard when we built em sandin and stainin, and then puttin clear finish on each individual board. They are 4 inches wide by however tall, and ran the router on each side, made a rolled edge....I know I know..can't visualize it without a picture. Maybe I'll take a picture of my cabinets and post it.

Mrs. Greg I've seen cabinets that were painted black with a red primer under it, when sanded it gives it a neat look, not only the wood showin but just a tad of the red. Gregs gonna choke me now LOL

My cupboards have been painted a off white melamine paint,I would never have painted over the wood that was originally under the paint. My mom -in- law did that.I wonder if melamine paint can be taken off,I'd like too see how the wood underneath is....girls any idea about melamine???

I've never heard of melamine paint. I did strip a Hoosier cabinet one time. I'd tried all the commercial strippers (Paint strippers :p ) and none of them would touch it. Tried sandin it off, and it would just get hot and bubble up and be harder than it was before I started sanding. Tip from a guy that worked in a furniture refinishin place, said to take a piece of broken glass, wearin gloves of course, and scrape it......I'd worked on that piece off and on for 2 years tryin to get the paint off...one weekend and a few shards of glass and I had it ready to stain and refinish. Come to find out, the paint that I thought had been added later was a factory finish...baked on enamal from the 20s :?
