Activist activity next week

To:
The attached flier describes the campaign planned for World Farm Animals Day, as planned by Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM), with support from Mercy for Animals, PETA, Compassion over Killing, In Defense of Animals and Vegan Outreach. Activities registered for protest are listed when you click on the World Farm Animals website link and then go to Events.

To look up target organizations by state check out this website: http://www.wfad.org/actioncenter/demo.htm.

… they have the DPI annual meeting listed as a potential protest event.

This reminds me of an op-ed I wrote in which I advocated for the ongoing slaughter of canner horses. I understand it's an issue that really seems to divide some circles in America, but I never imagined the response I would receive, complete with hate mail and death threats.

Nothing an animal rights cult would do could surprise me.

The solution to the feral horse and wolf problems, is to release the wolves on the horse ranges and let nature take its' course.
When I tell the local tree huggers that we used to turn our annual cull zebra into salami, the outraged reactions keep me entertained for a good hour

Quickly checking the website and some links, I found that there are only three organizations listed as 'targets' in SD.

They are the SD Cattlemens' Assoc., in Pierre, Midwest Dairy Council and the SD Poultry Industry Assoc. both in Sioux Falls.

The claim on the websites is that "agribusiness" is being targeted.

I know that SDCA is comprised of mostly small family type cattle outfits, and am pretty sure the same is true of the other groups, given SD agriculture typically is of that nature.

One wonders how those few groups were selected, out of the many statewide ag organizations in the state.

It seems that across the nation, virtually ALL organizations with any ties to NCBA are targeted.

Maybe R-CALF decision to 'play house' with some extremist organizations on their issues is paying off, as well as groups 'working with' HSUS and/or PETA on animal rights/welfare issues???

Such targeting by some very radical groups and the suggestions for action on their websites tells us this has the potential for considerable danger to individuals, businesses, and ag producer families that may be deemed 'too big' or 'too cozy with 'corporate ag business'.

These organisations work on a "divide and conquer" program which has worked so effectively here in the UK, they target hunting, promising the angling fraternity that they are not going to be targeted, then put a full anti-fishing campaign into force once the hunting legislation is passed through parliment.
All people who derive their income from land based business need to stand together and not assume they will be allowed to continue operating in the future.
