I'm getting back on track here. All of my obligations here in BC are completed and I can pack up and move on :) (friggin finally , eh Mrs. Greg)

OK,
I really need a good barn. ( did you notice that the barn and outbuildings are more important than the house....UGGGG priorities) Does not have to have stalls, will build them. Small house as long as it is warm and dry. As much land and water for the ponies as possible. Should be within an hours drive of some major center. But willing to look at longer hauls for the right place.

Long term lease only , meaning a minimum of 3 years.
I would also like to be able to nail the land owner down on a contract. Pretty tired of getting yanked around, packed and ready to leave and then wham they sell the place or give me there word that I have it and then promptly rent it out to another party..... Grrrrr...

Will also look at caretaking positions, work on Dairys etc. I will look at just about anything as long as there is some form of security involved. Thanks guys,
JT

I definately want to get back to the prairies :) I miss the endless blue skies. The wheat feilds ( no matter HOW tempting do not run through a wheat field! You WILL end up bloody and scratched, it is not romantic like in the movies!!!!!) The conversations at the corner stores, the coffee shop that EVERYONE goes to in the mornings. I can start running again without fear of idiots driving close to you to see if they can hit you with their moose antlers on the trucks. No Hazmat teams! I will however miss the cars exploding down the road, the bleeding teenagers knocking on my door at all hours. ( idiots get drunk and fall down on the concrete  ) and last but not least I will miss the druggies and their grow ops burning :) :p

Come on Mrs Greg(...don't make her beg!!!! ) I'm sure you can fix up a corner section or so for Pookie there in the wide spaces of Alberta!! :) :)

Just think how it would spark up the neighborhood. I'd offer here but I've got druggies in every direction...in fact it's rainy today and they are burning a HUGE pile of ' weed' over on the county road. My bulls seem to be loving it!!!!

I would but I'm moving to Siberia, the weather can't be any worse,JB and Texans visit to Alberta will make the province not worth living in after those holligans depart and raising rats just isn't the same as cattle.

Your bulls will eat after the burnings done....munchies

There are lots of abandoned farms in Sask, if I was there I would just drive around and start asking people. But I'm sure with the word out something will pop up! AB is crazy right now, Mom and Dad tried to find a contractor for the house in Bon Accord, not a chance of finding one. It's great that the economy is booming though!

The whole idea is to check out the lay of the land first. I have done the buy before arrival thing before. Not willing to repeat that mistake again!

Mrs. Greg, I have no definite plans at this point. I just know that my body and soul are saying "ENOUGH". It's time for a change. My choice would be to find a small acreage with some bush and running water on it, to give me a place to get dirt under my nails and less to look after.

To have a sustainable, healthy future in this business will require changes that I do not have the energy to make at this point in my life. I am just plain tired of the crap, economics and politics any more . . . the kick in the teeth that we took a few years ago didn't help. I don't know how some with less equity survived.

"This land is your land, this land is my land" . . . yeah, right.

MLA....For sure I know where your coming from.Greg and I have discussed getting rid of all the land getting an acreage, and just raising horses.Just talk right now but who knows what the future holds, frustration may win out.

Nice country where we are. National Park and Provincial Park close by and a ton of lakes for fishing , recreation, etc. Very slow pace as compared to out west.Lots of abandoned yard sites as the big grain farmers are buying out the smaller ones. Just have these -40 winters from time to time.

There is a place that might be available not to far from us. Its got about 30 acres of pasture, a decent house, some corrals, and a barn that would be half decent. I think you could possibly rent it as well.
