goodpasture, there is no unwarranted advantage. if there is an advantage now it is to women and blacks. the most penalized person alive today is the white man.
What fantasy world are you living in? Race is a constant issue that has yet to be resolved in many communities.

.......bankruptcy data reveal a disturbing story of Hispanic and black middle classes that are at greater risk for economic collapse than their white counterparts. Bankruptcy is a middle class phenomenon, a place of escape for those who have good jobs, established credit, accumulated assets, and suffered sharp reversals. Hispanic and black families are no exception; those in bankruptcy are disproportionately middle class when measured by education, occupation, and homeownership. Even so, Hispanic families are nearly twice as likely to file for bankruptcy as their white neighbors, and black families are three times more likely to file.

The bankruptcy data expose even greater racial disparities among homeowners-those who have achieved the most tangible sign of participation in the middle class. Hispanic and black homeowners face sharply increased risks of filing for bankruptcy as compared to their white counterparts. The immediate reasons that trigger a bankruptcy filing-job loss, medical problems, and family breakup-are remarkably similar among all three racial groups, which suggests that their financial problems are not isolated to a single, identifiable event but that a more widespread vulnerability of families of color is at work. These data may suggest more pervasive job difficulties and more trouble financing medical care. Perhaps more critically, the data presented here are consistent with other reports that suggest racial minorities are singled out for predatory loans and other subprime credit that drain billions of dollars out of the pockets of these families and push them into financial collapse.

It is not my job to educate you, I can only point the way for you to educate yourself, but this is simply one aspect of racism that white guys like you and me rarely see or comprehend. If you cannot see the difference between the KKK and NAACP, then I feel sorry for you wallowing in your ignorance. You should be aware that you really are a major part of the problem that prevents the playing field from becoming level.......where a person of talent and ingenuity can achieve success regardless or race or gender.

I have no problem being passed up on a job opportunity IF the woman or minority is MORE QUALIFIED...my gripe is the a holes who do not know how to do a job, get the spot simply because they are one black guy short of the mandated ratio.... that is racism .

if you fail to see that the NAACP is hurting the blacks of this nation, then you are the one wallowing in ignorance.....

We have a secretary of state that is a black woman and we have a presidential candidate that is a black man. What position in life can a black man not achieve?

What really torks me about affirmative action is that we're told that hiring somebody because of their race is wrong, but then a law is made so you have to do exactly that. The excuse given for this hypocracy is that a wrong has to be righted - like two wrongs make a right. However, in the vast majority of cases, the "wronged" individual has never been wronged and the person who gets hosed has never done any hosing. It's a racist law, but if you speak up against it, you're the racist.

I saw a black man (a college professer someplace) on Lou Dobbs that has written a book on affirmitive action being interviewed. His point is that the law has hurt blacks more than it has helped them because they know they don't have to put in the work the white folks do to get the job. Since they haven't put in the work, they are ill-prepared for the job and thus do it poorer. Since they do a poorer job, they themselves are putting up the glass ceiling because they aren't promotable material.

Like I heard a black comedian say the other night, they are officially the man now, who they going to blame. They can not say its the Man's fault because they are the Man.

For blacks to blame whites for their lack of accomplishment is a slap in the face of all black people that have accomplished so much in life, such as Obama.

I was on a panel occaisonally, that hired people for the state of Missouri. Judging from the conservation of the other panel members there is no way we would have ever hired a black or woman if not mandated.

Making other people do the opposite is not the way to correct that problem.
