Looks like we're going to open shop in Syria too

I bet our forum's biggest boat person will be along to condemn the Messiah for this aggression against a country in the middle of a civil war and that has not threatened the United States. I might add that it appears the Messiah believes he doesn't need congressional approval either. That'll surely piss Oldballast off.

 God I crack myself up sometimes.

President Obama is prepared to use U.S. military airstrikes in Syria as part of an expanded campaign to defeat the Islamic State and does not believe he needs formal congressional approval to take that action, according to people who have spoken with the president in recent days.

Obama discussed his plans at a dinner with a bipartisan group of foreign policy experts this week at the White House and made clear his belief that he has the authority to attack the militant Islamist group on both sides of the Iraq-Syria border to protect U.S national security, multiple people who participated in the discussion said. The move to attack in Syria would represent a remarkable escalation in strategy for Obama, who has sought during his presidency to reduce the U.S. military engagement in the Middle East.

Leadership heads to White House hoping to avoid vote on ISIS

By Scott Wong, Alexander Bolton and Mike Lillis - 09/09/14 06:00 AM EDT

Nine weeks before the midterm elections, the leaders of the House and Senate conferences are coming under pressure to call for a vote all four want to avoid.

Liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans alike say Congress should hold a vote on legislation authorizing military action against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Conservatives argue lawmakers can’t pass the buck on ISIS, while liberals are worried about another administration miring the United States in an unwinnable war.
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) will all visit the White House on Tuesday to discuss the terror threat with President Obama.

While all four want to avoid a tough vote, that’s where the commonalities end.

The do-nothing Congress wants to let Obama move forward without a vote--so they don't have to go on record...

I wonder if they back up to the paymaster to collect their paychecks- they should as they haven't done anything in years.... In the past 14-15 years they have given the Executive branch so much more power by their refusal to act...

Who could have guessed. Not a word about his Messiah attacking a country in the middle of a civil war who is not threatening the US. I'm shocked.

Would have been so much easier had he listened to Romney and left some troops in Iraq to begin with. "Leading from behind".

Yuppers, export some u.s. companies with young employees and draft them right there!

Throw a few dozen pairs of mormon missionaries into the mix and it's 'game on'
