Went over to Libby MT yesterday to talk to a home builder. Trip meter showed 377 miles. Left just after 7am and got over there at around 4pm.
We had a break down in Chester with our pickup acting funny and we crawled into Cut Bank at 10 am. The dealership got us fixed and out of there around noon.
Pretty nice going over and pretty nasty coming back.

Got some pics to share.

Yes we picked a builder. It is not the first guy who builds the the post and beam home.
We are going with the Libby builder.
He stayed an hour and a half past their normal closing time to make sure we had all of our questions answered. He also wanted to make sure we understood all of what his crew would do, what we would need to supply and some concerns he has about the floor plan.

Some red flags came up with the other builder. I asked him about housing for the crew doing the building, he wouldn't give me an answer. I asked him this twice. Hubby asked a couple of questions that also went unanswered. Then one of his employees came out with a couple of contracts for us to sign. No we didn't sign anything.

Photobucket got changed on me so I will try and figure it out so I can get some pics posted.

Those roads look like ours do for the past 3 weeks, lot's of snow and sheer ice underneath. I love traveling through your part of the world ILH but only when it's nice out. Glad you all made it home safe.

Interesting article in the paper today about that part of the country...

I used to think the wind blew here- until I went thru Browning a few times...Ours are just gentle breezes in comparison....Browning and Livingston--never been to either when the wind wasn't howling....

SNOWBOUND RANCHES

Helicopter reaches snowbound Montana ranches

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - Officials say U.S. Border Patrol agents and officers from the Blackfeet Department of Homeland Security reached several isolated ranches on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation this week to make welfare checks following severe weather.

The patrol used a Black Hawk helicopter to reach some ranches more than 7 miles off the main road that could not be reached by automobile.

The residents were safe but officials say they later returned to some ranches with off-road vehicles to deliver food and supplies.

Blackfeet Homeland Security Director Robert DesRosier says he became concerned after heavy snow and temperatures to 35 degrees below zero hit the area.

Good luck with your building project! PM me, or just ask, and I'd be happy to share with you some of the things that were good, and some that weren't, with building our home.

Cool photo's pretty country. Make sure you have a mud room with closet space for outdoor gear. We did'nt even think of it and it sucks.

We had a break down in Chester with our pickup acting funny

breakdowns and bad luck seem to float in the breeze in the vicinity of chester :)

You managed to take a picture of my father-in-law's ranch in your first picture. I know exactly where you pickup was when you took that first picture. That is a bull pasture off the south side of the highway there with those black bulls on a pretty big ranch.

If you look in the mountain in the background of your first picture and see that horizontal white snow line about half way up the mountain - that is what we call the "high horse trail" his place is right below that inbetween those two tree covered divides to the north and south. his boundaries are glacier park to the west, hwy 89 to the east, cut bank creek divide to the north, and kiowa divide to the south. glad all the cows are out of there.

your second picture looks like you are about to roll over the hill and drop into east glacier or you are just through east glacier about to go into the mountains.

your picture of browning is right at the hwy 89 / us hwy 2 intersection. by the crosswinds :) sign and wind sock. and your cut bank picture shows northern ford sign where my pickup came from.

felt like i made a trip to kiowa to help father in law move cattle - not much snow in the mountains by the looks of it. hope it comes

oh - i forgot to ask. How many 7 plates blew your doors off going through the mountains... those guys are nuts. my wife always has a death grip on the door handle in the pickup too whenver we go that way only she doesn't try to hide it.

have you ever been over there before? if you haven't sometime you'll have to pack up the hubby and kids and we'll drive over to west glacier and then back home through the park over the going to the sun highway. it will scare the living daylights out of you.

A few crazy drivers with the 7 plates and a couple with Alberta plates too, those surprised us because there was ice on the Marias pass.
That was the third time over there for me and second time for Darrell.
Kids and I went over Going To The Sun Road. Darrell wants to get the '34 Chevy Coupe restored and take that and his '34 Ford Pickup over Going To The Sun.

This look familiar? I couldn't resist. :D
