I'm curious about lumber prices especially in areas without much timber. A friend of mine bought lumber for a trailer floor today. 1.5in rip sawed ,air dried ,oak for .40 a board foot. How much is it there?

$500 per thousand for what the sawmill calls "Catchpen" lumber. (Rough - White or Red Oak) Usually 12 ft lengths but you can get most any lengths if you wait for the logs.

Circular mills saw lumber for $100 per thousand if you furnish logs.
Band mills are around $140 to $150 but might be worth it because of the kerf loss on circular mills.

Lot's of guys soak the lumber in treatment and make the lumber black. Only way to go for outside use.
