Make "Pot" legal?

Steve

Legalize it.. put it in liquor stores and regulate and tax the hell out of it...

while their at it.. put cigs in the liquor stores as well..

and let everyone who wants to grow a few plants get a permit to grow for each plant.. (so they can pay the tax on it, and have their property inspected by the EPA)

call it a "progressive tax" (pun intended)

Did anyone else see the store on tv the other night that was already packaging it and selling it? I believe it was in California.

Pot was legal in Alaska when I was up there in the 70's. You could have up to an ounce in your possesion and could grow it inside your home for personal use only, no sales.

They treated driving while "high" just as they did for alcohol. DUI.

Sure were a lot of older people smoking up there then too.

I don't smoke...have never smoked... Just smelling any smoke drives my asthma NUTZO.

But, I don't see why not make it legal.

Compared to all the ' legal' Rx drugs people can ahold of.....and the totally non -organic Meth.....pot seems to be the lesser of the evils.

TSR, you need to get off the farm more often...they have been doing that for years in California. :)

Legalize it.

Having had a brother that was an alcoholic (he's now dead), I'd prefer folks smoke weed versus drinking.

Tax the heck out of it. (now I sound like a democrat :D )

Get the organized crime folks selling it out of work. It is no different than the prohibition days with alcohol. Let farmers grow a little of it to make supplement income.

Taxing it would make lots of $$$$$.

It would not have to be a BIG tax either, just nominal and the $$$$ would still roll in.

I guess so Robert Mac. It happens to bring to mind a true story. In the 70's I was going through basic training at Ft. knox, Ky. We were having a 7 mile "forced march" (this is when I found out Ky. had mountains :) ) with full gear. There was a medic ambulance picking up the ones that were passing out along the way from exhaustion-it was a tough trek. But after finally making it to the top and finding a shady spot and a couple of hours rest, we were ok. I had met and made friends with a fellow Tennesseean from the mts. of east TN. As we were sitting there talking, two N York recruits came by and said "Hey we've got some grass you guys want to come smoke some with us?" We both declined and my friend looked at me and said I've smoked corn silks and I've smoked grapevines, damn if I'm going to smoke grass.

How many of yall have seen a person who has smoked pot for many years? Have you tried talking to them? To say it is a victimless crime is pure BS.
Seizures, memory loss, agitation, self centerness, inablity to hold a job, inablity to keep a commitment to family, and other self destruction actions.
No I can not support another policy to help destroy the family.
All the healthworkers on here can "try" to tell me oh no this is not what happens but then you would be going against the team of Drs who is treating my stepsister. No I dont claim her and as I told my Dad if this happened in an accident I would be behind her 110% I would understand and be compassionate but she did this to herself....her husband...her daughter...her son....her grandchildren...my father....her sisters...the list goes on.

Here let me give you a typical thing out of her mouth.....at her sister's 16 year old sons funeral who was killed on a dirt bike crossing a road in Ky
"well I got hit by a car and I lived hahahahahahahahahahahaha" It took her 5 mins to stop laughing.
She still thinks her dead father in law is "out to get her"
She thinks the city of Charlotte gives report cards to homeowners as to how good their yard looks.

No I will never be for the legalization of marijowana. You want health care costs to sky rocket LOL this will send it over the edge.

Isn't it their RIGHT to do to and with their body as they wish? Like smoking tobacco? It's their decision.

Your mostly right about the effects BUT the thing is,legalizing it will regulate it,it will be safer to use and buy...and since they're smoking it anyways the government can tax it. Plus once legal then the dealers loose money...NOT a bad thing.

Same goes for prostitution,I hate it,think its totally disgusting and demoralizing but once regulated the guys that frequent these places won't be bringing "things" home to innocent partners, costs will be regulated, like other jobs health will be checked, innocent young children cannot be used for this purpose....list goes on.

You forgot to add safety. If it were legal, there'd probably be less prostitutes or Johns murdered. At least I'd think so but truly have no idea. I keep hearing and reading about these ladies getting killed. The last big head line was the lady who advertised on Craig's List. Are there less murders in states where it is legal?

If such activities become rights, just where does personal responsibility come into play so that the ones who self-injure have to take care of themselves?

Again, I think it is not as simple as it seems.
