My cousin, JF Ranch, volunteered to help since the weather had gone haywire and we were pretty well swamped. His cows don't start calving
until late March. I told him that poor planning on my part didn't constitute an emergency for him, but he graciously offered his services anyway.
I was only too happy to accept. Thanks, John. :)

Not a particularly nice day

A total of 116 years of growing-up-together cowboy experiences. We have a lot of shared memories. If you haven't done so already,
go to the Sports and Hunting forum and check out "Story of my Elk Hunt," by JF Ranch. I wasn't on that trip-of-a-lifetime with JF,
but it all happened in the same part of the Teton Wilderness Area where I worked in 1971.

We had a day just like that here yesterday Soap, hopefully the weather straightens out again soon. Old Glory was sure ironed against the sky.

Nice to finally meet you face to face JF. :D

No, it wasn't the nicest weather but sometimes a job needs to be done, no matter what Mother Nature brings to the table.

Having admitted that, it could have been worse! I actually enjoyed being somewhat helpful among folks I admire and like. With Soapweed's facilities and quiet cattle, I'm quite sure he and Rena could have accomplished it just as well without me.

I am pleased that Soapy took me up on my offer to help.

That is awesome :D .

If you were a little closer, I'd come help you out too. I guess you could send me a couple loads to calve out for you, I'd try not to lose them in the rockpiles :D .

Better weather is on the way... today it's in the 40's, tomorrow supposed to be in the high 50's, and LOTS of sunshine!

We got 5 ins of rain yesterday and so far 3 today. Had some twisters yesterday that made a mess a little west of us. Its been just longsleave shirt weather here so the grass is wontin to green up. Everybody still worry about a late frost and with a winter like we had, its a good chance. If it don't, with all this rain we will have a good early grass crop. Its already growin good around and below the big lake.
