I'm looking for some advice about using options to price some calves for this fall. Never done it before, just learned about it in college. I was wondering what kind of strategies some of you use in deciding when and how to lock in or protect some profits. Thanks for the help.

That's the money you get when you turn in the beer cans you've been picking on the way to the post office to see if you have a "welfare" cheque in the mail.

Did you see any particular strategies that you liked? There are so many ways to use options. Straight out purchasing of puts, spreads, selling short . . .

It can soon get pretty complicated unless you have a specific plan in mind and your "gain" can become a "game".

burnt is right, there's many different angles that can be played using options, depending on what you want done. One thing to always keep in the back of your mind, however, is that 75% of them expire worthless.

I'd look up a local broker - maybe talk to a couple of them, for some assistance. Tell them what you're after and get some suggestions/explainations.
