Grandkids messing around

Rainy day road trip

Pulling into our little town from the west headed east

Don't try this at home.

Sorting out two-year-old heifers, to brand their calves

Just a few more to sort out

Whoops, there is an "oops." A calf escaped, but later we drove him back around into the corral with a couple Rangers.

212 to brand. We processed the first calf at 8:30 a.m. and did the last one at 12:40. Five of us were on the crew.

We had to turn this bunch out to grass on May 5th, mainly because the wind didn't blow for about three days and the two windmills on their feed ground didn't stay ahead. Fortunately this pond was just on the other side of the fence.

I called them with the feed pickup

And Peach followed them out the gate with a Ranger

The herd finished the day with a good drink and green grass. They bedded down for the night quite happy.

I took her picture

So she requested to take mine.

The whole gang went with me. One was playing "pirate" before we left home, so he was a pirate for the rest of the day.

To distribute salt and mineral

They are a pretty rowdy bunch.

Even though they sometimes look quiet and contemplative.

Or do they?

A great bunch of kids

But sometimes they need to run off a little energy

There is the Five on Fox

And these are the Five on Coyote

Green grass, blue sky, and grandkids

You can't beat a combination like that.

One got to drive home

While the others

Just rode along

And hung on

Tight

We were gone two hours and the Ranger had 12 more miles on the odometer than it did when we started.
