Moved the replacement heifers out to grass today. It was a little exciting as we hadn't worked them from horseback before  We sent the tractor ahead with a bale but it had no Pied Piper affect. Which we assumed, but we wanted some dry hay up there anyway so thought we'd try.

They know something is up:

Countryside is greening up. We finally had some rain, 1" over 2 days. Hopefully things get jumping now.

Seen earlier today. Far enough away and of a variety not to cause gcreek like problems:

Misc. horses:

A registered 3 yr old Appy and a 2 yr old QH filly that has Peppy San on the front side of the papers. I have high hopes for both.

Looking good. Those heifers look content now.

What breeding is in the heifers?

Those heifers are genuine certified mongrels and in a tragic twist of fate were born with no EPD's :D
They are mostly Blonde d'Aquitaine, with Red Angus and some Simmie mixed in for good measure.

EPD's don't make good cattle. :D

I was thinking they might have some Blonde in them.

Should get a good dose of Hybrid Vigor with that recipe!

Ya, well, even Hybrid Vigor needs water. Hopefully we get some more moisture to go with the inch we have so far this year and then we'll see what that vigor can do for us :)

Beautiful country, as always, Silver.
Looks like the pump's been primed, so I'm sure you'll get
more rain.

The neighbor called, we've been gone--we've had over 3" of rain since
Thursday...that's a lot for our area. Everything is green...and wet...

Good for you FH, makes ranching a lot more fun when there's moisture. If we had 3" of rain here we'd likely float away! That's 2 months rain in these parts, on a good year
