At the Sandhills Cattle Association convention yesterday

In Broken Bow, Nebraska

It was educational and a good time.

A gathering of cattle guys

At the benefit auction for the scholarship fund

Gathering a pasture to sort. Once again, it was a very windy day.

A cowboy and his cowdog with cavorting calves

The Polaris pony has pivoted.

Going around the lake

Here come the cattle

My steed standing ground tied

Penning them to sort pairs later

Being a cowdog is hard work.

The wind howled all day.

Hope the suspension is adequate to hold up this fat feller.

Putting the herd in a corner to sort. When we were done the cattle were in three groups--black-hided steer calves with their mothers,
black-hided heifer calves with their mothers, and any off-colored cattle, old cows, lame, lazy, or the like in the last group.

Putting out a steer pair

My worthy crew in action
