On Tuesday the wind was howling, so just to get out of it I went to a sale where quite a few cow/calf pairs from several different sources were selling. Having no intention of buying anything, no stock trailer followed me to town. Anyway one nice bunch of 19 solid mouthed cows with good sized calves came through. I only bid once, but wound up buying the offering for a thousand dollars per pair. The wind was too ferocious to mess with hauling them that night, so hired them hauled home on Wednesday.

Eleven of the cows have Charolais calves at side, and they will fit right in with the ones that are already on our outfit.

A few days of green grass is all they need.

A heck of a purchase. You could sell those calves today for over $700 a piece for October delivery at 600 pounds. Makes the cows fairly right-priced. Good deal.
