McCain Backs Timeline to Get Obama Out of Iraq
by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 55 Comments
(2008-07-20) — Republican presidential nominee John McCain today for the first time said he can now support a timeline to reduce the American presence in Iraq, specifically advocating the withdrawal from Iraq of Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama, and several battalions of U.S. news anchors and reporters.

“It’s time to bring them home,” said Sen. McCain at a news conference attended by a journalism intern from the Des Moines Register. “The surge has worked, and it’s time to redeploy.”

Sen. McCain said bringing Sen. Obama home would help to ensure that “people in the U.S., who desperately need media attention, will get the help they deserve.”

“Our mainstream media forces are stretched too thin,” he said. “If news should break here in the homeland, who’s going to cover it? We’re vulnerable.”

Oh I know its a joke- I read it on the political irony site a day or two ago...

I just thought it was very interesting that since Maliki now backs Obamas timetable idea- and King George has called for a timetable (altho he won't call it that and prefers "Time Horizon" )-- now old Gramps has flipflopped (OOPS - I mean "evolved"  ) his position... :???:

OT let me put it this way

Flowers smell great, you with me?
Skunks stink, You still with me?

OK if you tell me in every conversation that skunks stink and flowers smell good, the cnversation gets old mighty fast. And everyone quits listening. So if you want someone to listen just temper your conversation some or everyone will call you a nut. Then if you do come up with a bright idea no one will hear. Pick and choose your battles

In other words- what I said is correct- eh :???:

And I heard Obama say that the surge didn't work. How the hell can you accept his judgement at all when he won't accept the obvious? When anybody says, "The surge didn't work", that is somebody to quit listening to from then on - they've qualified themselves as a moron.

And I've heard him explain his statement too- that while he thinks the surge has worked to make Iraq much more safer- it was at a big cost of giving up everything we had gained in Afghanistan- and that the Iraqi government had still not been forced to step up and take more responsibility....

He's full of crap - he's just not man enough to admit that he was wrong. The surge in Iraq had no effect in Afghanistan, and the Iraq government IS taking more responsibility.

He still has the best argument- we shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place....And then the conditions in Afghanistan wouldn't be on such a crisis status now....And as more of the evidence of King Georges altering/withholding of the true facts that led the Congress to allow the Iraq intervention come out--even many of the Republicans are now seeing they were duped and misled...

But who would think that a President of these United States would lie to take us into something so serious as a war.... :???:

He's still saying crap because he isn't man enough to admit he was wrong. So much for "change"...

Neither is King George- and 60% of the people believe he was....

In the latest poll by The New York Times/CBS News, 45 percent of Americans say efforts to bring order and stability to Iraq are going well, up 20 points from a year ago. Still, six in 10 of the poll’s respondents say the United States should have stayed out of Iraq.

sssshhhh give the George Bush crap a break, can a person not talk about McCain or Obama with out hearing your views about GWB

Ps. fff, or kolan before you bring up Clinton getting mentioned her many times in regards Bush conversations, Clinton preceded Bush they have a connection via policies that overlap and have cause and effect. Obama and McCain are two fresh faces for presidency.

So here we go down the "It's OK for Obama to ____ because somebody else did it once" road again. Where is the "change"?

Yeah, it's funny to see that "liberal" media screaming for Obama to admit the surge worked (it didn't) while they ignore all of McCain's promises about Iraq in the beginning. Why don't they ask McCain to admit he was wrong in supprting the invasion to start with?

No, no, no. Obama's 16 months is not a good idea. But Maliki's 16 months is a good idea. McCain has been all over the board on lots of things: private Social Security accounts, gay adoption, off shore drilling, immigration, balancing the budget...... You name it, he's probably changed his mind at least once.
