FEDERAL HOUSING ENTERPRISE REGULATORY REFORM ACT OF 2005

The United States Senate

May 25, 2006

Statement by John McCain

"...If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

"I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation."

Reform, my potootie. What you are trying to ignore and hoping the American people will ignore is the fact that this government used to work. We didn't need to "reform" FEMA, the Interior Dept, Housing, Justice, Finance..... They all worked fine until Bush/Cheney took office! These messes (that will be left to another president to fix) are all the result of Conservative government! And McCain offers us more of the same.

If McCain was for reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac once, he'll probably be against it pretty soon.

It takes a little time before all them changes Clinton made kicked in. Or that insisting that poor people with bad credit all get home loans that they normally would not been able to get.

If Bush would have regulated things more strictly all you Libs would have did was talked about how he made it harder for poor people to own homes, especially minorities.

You really have no idea how all this works do you?

You libs are doing your damndest to deflect from the fact that McCain called one correctly. He generally is agaisnt de-regulation, but he saw how the future Obama advisors were operating without regulation, saw how they weren't smart enough not to hang themselves and us without regulation, and made the correct call. Facts are facts.

The thing is- that the bill- FEDERAL HOUSING ENTERPRISE REGULATORY REFORM ACT OF 2005- was introduced in 2005- when the Repubs had control- and Bush was in the White House, and wasn't supported by GW, nor the Repub leadership.. It did not make it thru the Repub Congress- and then was brought over to the new Congress in 2006... But historically:

"This bill never became law. This bill was proposed in a previous session of Congress. Sessions of Congress last two years, and at the end of each session all proposed bills and resolutions that haven't passed are cleared from the books."

From all that I can find- McSame must not have thought it very important as it was not reintroduced...

Whether it passed or not or even if some Republicans helped shoot it down has absolutly nothing to with the fact that McCain saw it coming.

The fact that McCain isn't omnipitent changes the FACT that he saw this coming? Why can't you admit it? It's a documented historical fact. Why do libs. have such a struggle with reality?

Well....GENERALLY we tend to NOT like wars, bankruptcy and lies . GENERALLY we tend to think on our own and not dog pile on just because of what the Party Leaders think.

GENERALLY....that's my answer.

And how are you " GENERALLY against " something, as you state about McBush? That sounds like something that could work for me...please explain this to me.

You can't understand that? Example: I'm GENERALLY in favor of low taxes, but I have no problem taxing the hell out of tobacco as long as the problems created by tobacco drain tax money.

People around here are GENERALLY in favor of rainy days, unless they've got hay down.

GENERALLY shows a predictability, but a degree of flexibity that ALWAYS doesn't afford. GENERALLY, Obama has made terrible decisions on who he associates with, but I'd think that one decent person can be found somewhere.

Where is the glory in playing dumb?

Now, back to the topic. McCain called that one right, didn't he?

Did you libs miss this question? Or maybe all of you just decided to PM Sandhusker with the answer? How many PM's did you get, Sandhusker?

They don't want any documented facts to get in the way of their opinion. It's a lot easier to somehow blame this on McCain if you ignore what really happened.
