McCain's running mate?

fff

Who do you think it will be?

I think it will be Tom Ridge. He's pro-choice, but I don't think McCain cares one way or another about the small group of social conservatives who vote on that issue. And are they going to vote for Obama? Not likely. First they'll scream and yell, then they'll hold their noses and vote for McCain. Bush never rewarded them for their support, they're used to being pandered to, then ignored after the election.

I think all the other candidates I've seen mentioned (Romney, Huckabee, Liberman, Rudy, Powell, Pawlenty) have more baggage than Ridge.

I don't think he can pick Romney now....Its bad enough McSame is now outed as a $100+ million dollar gigolo with 7 (?) houses (he doesn't even know) :???:  --and if you add on another multimillionaire with $200 million +, you've just laid out the Party of the Plutocrats....

And since family trees have been brought into the campaign by the Repubs against Obama- Romneys is ripe for picking with Polygamist Grandparents that even chose to leave the country for Mexico, so they could practice their cult beliefs....

That's right. Romney's out. There's a double standard.

How many houses did Kerry and his gigolo'ed bride own?

Yep and thats one of the reasons the Repubs then said Kerry would not make a good President- and was out of touch with the American people...Just the same way ol McGigolo is now.....

But the DEMS NOMINATED him, thinking that he was NOT out of touch.

And now to come back and say McCain IS out of touch is the definition of hypocrisy itself!!!!!

You can't say that what's good for the goose is not good for the goose!!!!

So your saying that the new neocon Republicanisms chosen spokesmen were all right when they criticized Kerry- but now everyone is wrong for McGigolo :???:

A 73 year old kept man that hasn't lived on his own earnings or worried about where his next dollar comes from for 30 years- that doesn't know how many homes he owns or what kind of car he drives ( if he even does anymore) - and you say he is not out of touch :???: Now thats HYPOCRISY-- and the best joke of the year....   :p

In the 2004 presidential race, the Bush campaign and right-wing pundits jumped all over the fact that Kerry had married an heiress (his second wife), and that they had a (gasp) prenuptial agreement:

“If his own wife doesn’t trust him with her money, why should we trust him with ours? Teresa Heinz Kerry is not sure about her husband’s character. Are you?” “He’s always had a net underneath him throughout his political career — in his case a net woven of homespun 24K gold.” - Joseph Farah, World Net Daily (with the headline “President Gigolo?”)

“He’s basically a skirt-chaser, folks. He’s a gigolo.” “Kerry never had to worry about the money he earned, the taxes he paid, or the programs he and Ted Kennedy forced the rest of us to pay for. … Mr. Kerry Heinz is not effected [sic] when these neighborhoods are destroyed and working class families lose the largest asset in their retirement plans — their home’s value.” - Rush Limbaugh

“John Kerry can’t really speak to the middle class tax cuts, inasmuch as he is a kept man. He lives off the money made by other men and left to their daughters or wives.” - Ann Coulter (in her book, she refers to Kerry as a “gigolo, the male Anna Nicole Smith”)

Having a wife who provides you with a private jet and eight multimillion-dollar vacation homes provides for a comfortable life. But is this the right preparation for becoming president?” - Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, World Net Daily

“If John Kerry wins in November, he will be the premiere president of this great country of ours to be also a gigolo. The dictionary defines ‘gigolo’ as a man supported by a woman in return for his sexual attentions and companionship. It might sound rough for John Kerry, but it’s right to the point.” - Taki Theodoracopulos, American Conservative

Jay Leno even joked about how Kerry would eliminate the federal deficit “He said all we have to do is find a really rich country like Switzerland and marry it.”

So why haven’t the same people been saying the same things about McCain? McCain married a rich heiress who funded his political career. McCain signed a prenuptial agreement. McCain has a safety net (a private jet and so many homes he can’t remember them all). McCain and his advisors are not “effected” when working class families lose their homes. Why aren’t they calling McCain a gigolo?

From The Nation earlier this year:

"Democrats who think it's going to be a cakewalk into the White House next November had best remember one name: Condoleezza Rice.

John McCain is a formidable candidate in his own right, but if he has the political imagination to do it, he can cause the party of Jefferson and Jackson indescribable angst with Rice as his vice-presidential pick.

Besides being the greatest two-for in GOP history, Rice brings other huge pluses to the decorated Vietnam hero. Indeed, she may be enough to elect the venerable hero/naval aviator.

McCain's troubles with the religious wing of his party could well evaporate with the churchgoing Rice at his side. She solidifies that part of his base overnight.

With Rice on the ticket, the GOP would have somebody to get enthusiastic about. The Secretary of State is immensely popular with Republicans. For a party that up to now has been clueless about how to run against either a woman or a person of color, Condoleezza Rice is pure political gold.

Woe to any Democrat who thinks taking her on in a debate is a sure thing. The woman is tough, fast on her feet and able to give better than she gets. Anyone who has seen her in action testifying in front of a hostile House or Senate committee knows that she will be able to wipe up the floor with a plodding, ordinary pol of a Democratic vice-presidential candidate. Take Rice lightly at your peril.

In the ordinary course of things the ideal vice-presidential candidate is relied upon to carry his or her home state and keep out of trouble. With Condi the GOP gets a lot more. It gets a superstar to match the Democrats' superstars. If it comes to name recognition, glamour and magnetism for conservatives, Condi is dandy. Also, it is a plus for the GOP team that she is a snappy dresser.

Rice's presence on the ticket deprives the Democrats of the we-are-more-diverse-than-thou argument. It makes McCain--whose ethnically diverse family includes an adopted daughter from Bangladesh--an even more attractive candidate for a certain kind of independent voter.

Rice can rightly be attacked for serving Bush and backing an unpopular and disastrous war. But McCain, who is extremely pro-war himself, is not going to select a running mate who is wishy-washy on Iraq. Rice is also said to have done a poor job running the State Department, where morale is supposed to have dropped faster than a subprime mortgage. However, you can put the number of voters who give a rodent's behind about the care and feeding of cookie-pushing diplomats in a phone booth, if phone booths still existed.

With Rice on the ticket the Republicans are freed up to run a much stronger negative campaign against either Clinton or Obama because the Secretary of State provides them with cover against charges of sexism or racism. They would be able to go after Obama's membership in Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. Its minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., with whom Obama is close, has won himself the militant tag from conservatives because of his association with Nation of Islam leader the Rev. Louis Farrakhan.

They can attack Hillary's experience claims as consisting of her being Bill's wife. They can challenge her boast that she is a strong, independent woman and paint her as a weak, hopelessly-in-love woman under the spell of a man subject not only to "bimbo eruptions" but also eruptions of smarmy deals with shady business figures.

Lastly, Rice is a notorious sports fan with excruciatingly detailed knowledge of much of its arcana. She's often said that her dream job is commissioner of the National Football League; however, in a pinch she would probably settle for Vice President of the United States."

If she's McCain's pick it's a slam dunk. She's smart, tough and well- liked, even by most Democrats who've had dealings with her. Plus, if she gets criticized, the Republicans could claim that her critics are racists AND sexists. Sadly, it's not likely to happen. Word is that she really wants to go back to teaching.

This would be my number one pick if I was him! I would love to see him pick her! She would be an awesome pick, unless she has some skeletons out there I do not know about.

Not to mention it would cover a black person and a woman all in one swoop, to out do the Democrats.

Bit I agree that it will probably not be her! :(

Palin from Alaska.
That seems to be the speculation this morning, Cal. Supposedly, it's not going to be Romney and it's not going to be Pawlenty and...

Thursday night's arrival of a private jet from Alaska at the Middleton, Ohio, airport raised speculation that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would be McCain's pick. Middleton is 25 miles from Dayton.

Rich Bevis, an airport manager at the Middleton airport, said that a woman, two men and two teenagers were onboard.

I thought that the Obama bunch did a good job in keeping the secret as long as they did. It looks like the McCain bunch is doing even better.

I don't think it would be her, but I'd still like to know where the Secretary of State is today. That would be a nice surprise if it actually happened.

But...one thing is clear. We're all talking about McCain this morning - not 'The Great One' and his speech last night. Love it.

The US Government took bounties off wolves, outlaws and placed them on polygamist, who when caught never even got a trial and were sent straight to prison. That’s why families went to Mexico, and Canada. Some went to hard to get into mountain valleys in Idaho, and Wyoming, and had watchmen on the passes.
Since when is the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints a cult OT????

Yea, big corruption.

How dare her (Gov. Palin) want to get rid of that cop who tasered her 11 year old nephew and threatened to kill her father. Who the hell does she think she is?
This is a disgrace and she should be impeached. The democrats are right on this one. And I’m sure that 11 year old boy had it coming. And I’m sure the officer had good cause to say he was going to put a bullet in Mr. Palin’s head. And as far as drinking on duty in his squad car, …well so what. What could possibly go wrong with a drunk cop driving around confronting criminals and traffic offenders?
With Governor’s like this running around trying to keep cops like this off our streets and highways, what’s next? Firing good teachers who are child molesters?

Actually the State Trooper is her brother in law- who is in a nasty divorce from her sister- and she fired the Public Safety Administrator when he wouldn't and said he couldn't fire the brother in law under state laws-- and it created a big enough stink that the State Legislature (made up of a majority of her own party) called for the investigation of her actions....

I've got some cousins ( distant on Mom's side) that I've made connection with in Lyman WY , & man -oh-man....some of the stories the old people in their family tell of those " dark" days make your skin crawl at the treatment these families got.
