I just saw a McDonald's commercial where they advertised they "Use only USDA Beef". Anybody want to venture a guess on the purpose of that statement?

Like Ben said, the USDA label was the best advertising the packers could get.

The statement was included to tell consumers the USDA has inspected the beef and certified it safe for humans to eat. Nothing more nothing less.

Wrong - McDonalds, and their competitors, can only use USDA inspected meat. That is like a tire company advertising that they use rubber in their tires. Think harder.

Try again. Think about it; McDonalds is paying millions of dollars for an ad where they have 30 seconds or so to convince consumers to buy their product. Why did they put a given into the ad instead of some other message? Obviously, they thought that message had some mileage in it....
