I want to know how the school got him approved to speak to the kids......MOST schools have a policy prohibitting a convited felon from having contact with the students.

Thanks for bringing this topic up, I am sure alot of people didnt know and if they had before hand would have spoken out about it.

He is going to be talking to the kids in Chicago........hmmmmm

Thank you, Hillsdown, for bringing this up. I had not known about this until I read it here last night.

When I read this thread last night, I could not figure out how to express my outrage w/o getting hammered for sounding like someone who was trying to buddy up to a non "liberal." I decided I didn't care, I was gonna say something anyway and when I got on line this morning, I had this message from a friend of mine who summed up what I was feeling perfectly.

.....they scream about Obama and lies....doesn't want him talking to their kids......BUT........BUT............. NO ONE is speaking out against Michael Vick going around speaking to kids in school!!!!

2 black men....one is President of the US, highly educated, speaks proper and correct English NOT a convicted felon.

the other...a complete dufus who can not speak let alone understand English and to this day will not say he did wrong and does not understand that he did wrong..... Vick is REQUIRED by the rules of his deal to speak to kids.....so he justs mumbles words as required.

Look at the one they remain quiet on. Just freakin' amazing!!

Dog fighting here in TX is illegal...and of course it is immoral, but there are still those that do it here like anywhere else, for example trash like Michael Vick.

alice both you and your friend sounded like people who are upset over a wrong ........this is NOT about left or right, republican or democrate, texan or Virginian.
He is not speaking from the heart but as a stipulation to his being able to play the game that pays him millions. I have not listened to him but I will take your word he is not well spoken

I was trying to show that ot was only trying to deflect the topic and attack me
I know dog fighting is illegal across the country.

The Humane Society should be ashamed.

[Humane Society President and CEO Wayne Pacelle] said he was approached with the idea of working with the former star quarterback several months ago by Vick's representatives. After meeting with Vick at the federal prison camp, Pacelle said, he decided just within the past week that working with Vick was the right move for the society and its missions.

Specifics are to be determined, but Pacelle made it clear that the expectation on both sides is for Vick to contribute more to the cause than public service announcements. A source close to Vick said he has agreed to be more than a spokesman. Pacelle believes Vick can do the most good in the area the society believes is of greatest need -- urban outreach and prevention.

Once again, Hypocrite, you are trying to divert the intention of this thread. It has nothing to do with the Humane Society, and everything to do with the fact that neocons are up in the air about a motivational speech given to children by the President of the United States, yet these same people don't seem too upset about children being presented as a role model a convicted criminal who got reinstated in the NFL after serving time for a particularly immoral crime and will again receive a gajillion bucks a year. Hells bells and buckets of fire, Vick's "speech" was mainly about how he got in with the wrong crowd...no "what I did was reprehensible, immoral, unconscionable"...nope, just, I got in with the wrong crowd. Bah!

Last I looked this was a Political message board and Michael Vick was not a political issue. I don't mind discussing it, but I feel no obligation to meet some standard imposed by you to discuss it. His talking to groups is on a small local scale and has no affect on me or my family.

Would I want him talking to my kids no I would not! Would I be scared if he did no I would not! I imagine he has a very strict script to stick to or his parole will be revoked and he will spend many, many years back in Prison.

I'm showing my outrage, I will never give money to the Humane society again. They should have never signed this Vick guy up for publically speaking to the children in any community.

Again you divert...something you continually accuse others of, yet accept no responsibility for doing. This is not about the Humane Society...and you know it.

The outrage is that the Eagles would sign him to play football again! I think the NFL should allow him to play again, but morally no team should have picked him up!

I will never watch the Eagles again!

That is all I can do, Michael Vick is a non issue for me, I do not live in state he committed crime, I do not live where he is talking to kids. All I can do is express myself in the one way I can and that is not supporting the Eagles for their bad choice!

I guess I could cry baby like you on a message board about it, but what good will that do?
