Might Have to Build New Jails in D.C.

While I was doing some reading about Senator Vitter and his association with the D.C. madam- most articles say that he won't be prosecuted for his Louisiana soliciting prostitution accusations, because of the Louisianas staute of limitations-- but possibly could still be for a felony in D.C. and also under this D.C. statute...
Old Bill and Monica could have been too...

D.C statute § 22-201:

Adultery Definition and penalty. Whoever commits adultery in the District shall, on conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not exceeding $500, or by imprisonment not exceeding 180 days, or both; and when the act is committed between a married person and a person who is unmarried both parties to such act shall be deemed guilty of adultery.

Now I never knew any places still had adultery laws on the books- as Montana got rid of theirs back in the 70's...I think it was done away with when the State Constitution was rewrote- because most didn't think it would stand a Constitutional challenge in this day and age...Before that we used to arrest quite a few guys when wives caught them in compromising situations and signed complaints on them  Always seemed like the prosecutor charge the guy

I would imagine this law is not being enforced or prosecuted in D.C. anymore either-- or with the crew of Congressmen, politicians, bureaucrats, aides, and lobbyists there anymore the government wouldn't be able to keep up building jails...

Screwing around on their wives or husbands is bad enough, but so long as its consensual it shouldn't be against the law.

What bothers me is when they are crewing the nation as well as their interns all while bragging about how moral they are.

I agree , that's why our politicians should be of the highest moral character and have the utmost integrity.

Interesting---It appears as tho about 20 states still have some type of adultery law...
In South Dakota the US Supreme Court ruled that adultery laws don't pertain to Indians- as that part has always been left to tribal custom and law...

In Alabama- convicted adulterers cannot hold public office...

Could you imagine if we had a federal national law like that

When the colony of Georgia was founded it was against the law for a lawyer to be elected to public office. How did that ever get repealed?
