Winter here generally starts with first snow at halloween or shortly after, carrys on until first of april or so. We dont seem to get much snow anymore, about a foot at any one time on the ground seems like alot. Chinooks usually come and knock the snow down before it piles up too high. Average winter days would probably be about -10 to -15 daytime, 10 degrees cooler at night. This winter we havent had any extreme cold (-40 and colder) but we usually get a few days of it each year.
Average anual precip about 16", good for one damn good hay crop if the moisture is timely, some guys take two cuts if they get the first one early and don't plan on grazing it in the fall.
Very little severe wind, but usually breezy in the summer. Only predator of consequence here is the wolf, but seldom become a really big problem. We have a good predator controll program now, and so far they really look after us.
