To tell the truth, that grass you see is along the county road
that comes into our place.

Glad you got a good rain FH. Those are some really pretty pictures of the trees startin to turn. We very seldom have a fall where the trees turn, we go from hot to a blue norther blowin in and freezin the leaves on the trees. Next day they are brown. Course then our pines are always green.

That cat of yours has such personality!!!!!! He's a cute thang.

It's a John Deere 300. We've had it since 1981 or close to that time.
We had a flood in Western Montana and bought it to help repair
the damage. It's a really good little machine. It was so handy
we just kept it. Amazing how much work we do with it. It is like a 1972
model. (We think)...

Magoo just needs a cellphone in his paw to look like a teenager!
Of course he probably chose the most comfortable chair in the house.

We are right at two inches for the week, and it's STILL RAINING!!!

I think ours is done here- but we ended up with about an inch which gives us around 2.3 for the last week...Weather boys say a couple days in the 70's now- that should help green things up- but then their is another front coming down from Alaska that could bring us more rain about the middle of next week.....

Very nice pictures. Takes me back to when I used to live up that way and had the red roads. My little girl was only 2 then- that was back in 1984. Lota good memories. Fall is my favorite time of year and I never get tired of looking at the changing colors. Was going to put the camera on my saddle today when I go out and get some pictures of the trees over the river. They are starting to change. Hope I can get some good ones.

I always loved the fall in the mountains... The yellow aspens snaking up the mountains along the creek beds was just stunning from the valley and gettin in close with all of the undergrowth changing was just lovely.. Nothing much prettier than a creek bed with snow on all the rocks and the red of the rocky mountain maples and yellow os the aspens... I need to head on out west again some day... I miss it..

I love fall around here too though, got Married in late October so we could get pictures outside with all the maples and oaks changing colors.. WE haven't really started yet around here. some of the Sumacs have changed and the Black walnuts have started dropping leaves but the show hasn't started... Wouldn't expect much for another few weeks unless we get a frost... I year in 10 that is earlier than September 28th but 5 years in 10 it is earlier than the 20th... First real killer is usually around November 7th it seams.. Wow, we haven't had a normal year yet, last year or two years ago we had our first killer frost on like September 7th..

IL Rancher, you be sure to share some pictures of all those beautiful
trees turning red and golden. Okay? Our little trees are no match for yours, but we appreciate them anyway. The little green ash are the last to get leaves and the first to lose them here and that is so they can survive from one year to the next. Smart little buggers!!

You are so correct about the Qaking Aspen. I think they are our most
favorite of trees in the West.

I think the Maples are awesome trees in your area.

Around here my favorite trees, and they don't show always, are the lowely sumac... Nothing quite so blazing red than those sumacs... Pretty.... That and sweat gum but we don't have any of those... Sugar Maples are just something special. Dont have a lot here but back at my folks.. I love their place.. Not only will it always be home (From age 2-21 I lived either there or near there before moving to Montana) but there is just something about it..

There are still some American Elm trees that didn't die from Dutch Elm around here... Everytime I see one I just stand in awe of them. The cirumfrance of those suckers is something to behold... When the Oaks, Hickorys, Birches and such get going I will get the camera out.. I wonder what the color will be around here this year... Depending on so many factors it will be dull or brilliant... We shall see.

We shall also see if the sun ever coms back out...

Now I thought I could make a couch and cushion look really useful, but that cat beats all.

Nice pictures, FH. Thank you for posting them. It sure is nice to see what the country looks like in other places.
