Police are investigating reports of a possible shooting and hostage situation Tuesday at the Governor's Office Building near the Missouri state capitol, sources tell Fox News.

Authorities in Jefferson City, Mo., said they haven't found any hostage takers, and there have been no reports of shots fired.

Police roped off various blocks in the area and surrounded the downtown office building on Madison Street in Jefferson City, according to local media reports.

Someone working on the fifth floor of the Governor's Office Building, which is two blocks from the Missouri Capitol, reported that a hostage situation is under way.

Authorities were called to the scene just after 10 a.m. Tuesday. The area is reportedly on lockdown.

The Governor's Office Building is the former Governor's hotel and is now used for state government offices. Its main tenant is the Missouri public service commission.
