Congrats to Montana Cowgurl for winning a NILE Merit heifer for year 2011! 90 applicants and 25 heifers so you figure...We didn't realize what a big deal this is so I think we will donate one for 2012!

Ohhh yeah, a 1 page essay plus forms. She is one heck of a good writer and she won the heifer from people we know by Roundup. :D :D Looking forward to taking possession of her! :D :D

Congrats!!!! I am really impressed with the merit program put on at the NILE. I would like to see our Cattlemen's Association or other state breed association's get on board with this type of support.

Hope she does well in the program,

The merit heifer program is definetly a neat program. My mom and step-dad donate a heifer every year. They have established some nice relationships over the years and it has helped their bulls sales a little with some of the recips family buying bulls after they realize how much they like the program.

We got to see Cadence take her heifer around the arena. Eaton Beef donated a heifer calf specifically to raise money to help the Younkins with their medical bills. This young guy with the last name of Eaton was also a past merit heifer recipient. This heifer brought close to $10,000.00. I am proud of our cattle producers throughout this nation being very caring and going overboard to help a family.

Thanks for that link, OT. I wouldn't have gotten to read that story
because I wouldn't have known about it. Cadence is quite a
tough little gal. It's really something to see the amount of support that family has gotten.
