Montanans Are Insane?

WASHINGTON – A ballot measure in Montana that would require an equal number of men and women to serve in the state Legislature is a step closer to getting on the November ballot.

A petition for the measure was approved last Tuesday by the Montana secretary of state's office. The measure would force the Montana Legislature to reconstruct its gender makeup in a 50/50 split. Currently, women now hold 41 of the 150 seats in the Legislature.

The measure is still several steps away from ever becoming law. But even if it did, the text of the initiative doesn't exactly make clear how such a drastic overhaul of the Legislature would be carried out. The text says the Legislature "shall be composed of fifty percent men and fifty percent women," and that the transition would not take effect until "on or before the second general legislative election held after the next redistricting."

And that's if the measure even gets on the ballot, and is approved. For the measure to be on the November ballot, the petition’s sponsor John Marshall and supporters must gather signatures from 10 percent of the total number of qualified voters in Montana, including 10 percent of the voters in each of the 40 legislative house districts.

In total, that comes out to 48,349 signatures due by June 20 if Montana residents wish to vote on the measure in November.

This can open a huge can of worms.

What's next, a male governor from Jan - June & a female from July - Dec? :???:

I can't think of any other laws introduced anywhere that were more ridiculous. Not even in 3rd world primitive countries........

Can't tell some one how to vote now can you?

A voter should be able to cast their ballot for the person, not the male cult or the female cult. What's an "independent" voter to do?

sounds good let let them have a real liberal experiment..

the should also allocate spots for race as well.. and if they don't have enough.. they can either lower their standards or bring some in.

we have plenty of extra highly unqualified ones here in Camden they can have,

and what about religion.. the Muslims are under-represented as well.. not to mention the satanists, neo pagans, and Washington animal lovers.

and you have plenty of sky for a big ol jesse jackson rainbow..

call it affirmative legislation. or some other nice words..
(can't call it what it would be because cluster - ---- , didn't sound to nice. )

who knows some day we might actually be judged by the content of our character,.. instead of by color gender religion ect..

I can't believe the voters in Montana would go along with this BS, whether they be male or female.

What about electing the best person for the job, no matter the sex?

The way this last legislature redistricted- and set up voting places---- anything is possible...
People living a mile west of Opheim can no longer vote there- they have to make the almost 200 mile round trip to Hinsdale to vote...Same with folks living south of Hinsdale- they have to go to Opheim... Some of those that live 60 miles south of Hinsdale will be traveling nearly 250 miles round trip to get to their voting precinct...

I live 5 miles out of Glasgow but can no longer vote in Glasgow.. I now have to drive thru Glasgow to go to Fort Peck which is now my voting location... Which adds 45 miles on my travel distance !

Thank God Montana has mail in voting- as it sound like that is what they are trying to get everyone to use...

Voting fraud is much easier to manipulate with mail in ballots.

What's that have to do with an asinine 50/50 men women split in representation?
