Fellow Freedom Fighter,

Americans for Prosperity – Montana is starting a new series of short videos aimed at exposing wasted taxpayer money or exposing bad government policies that hurt Montana’s economy and make no sense. The series will be called the “Making Sense in Montana Minute.”

Today we offer you the first installment of the series, entitled “Montana’s Empty Chair.” The video below focuses on John Vincent, an absentee member of Montana’s Public Service Commission, who appears to be providing little representation or respect for his constituents. Please watch the video below, then contact Commissioner Vincent at (406) 444-6168 or [email protected] and ask him to start taking his responsibilities more seriously.

The attendance record for PSC meetings can be verified through examination of PSC video and minutes from the PSC website archives: http://psc.mt.gov/agendas.asp#avarchives. Vincent has disputed this clear visual evidence by claiming he attended up to 98% of the meetings via phone connection from his home… He is apparently proud of the fact that he “phoned it in.” Never mind the fact that the very phrase – “phoning it in” is a euphemism for non-fulfillment of your responsibility, never mind the fact that he’s drawn almost a half million dollars in total compensation from taxpayers for his non-service on the PSC, never mind the fact that his constituents can’t interact with him when he doesn’t physically attend the meetings, and never mind the fact that there’s no way to verify he’s even paying attention at the other end of that phone.
Feel free to pass this information on to your fellow taxpayers, and ask them to put grassroots pressure on Commissioner Vincent to pay more attention to representing Montana’s utility consumers and to make himself more accessible to the public.

For Better Montana Government,

Joe Balyeat, CPA
MT State Director,
