Montana political landscape seeing changes (R's gain control of legislature)
CBS News ^ | 11-06-08
Following Tuesday's election, it appears that Republicans are on their way to majorities in both the Montana Senate and Montana House.
Republicans have a four seat edge in the Senate, while in the House, if the unofficial returns stand, they'll lead 51-49.
Democrats, meanwhile, retain firm control of the executive branch of government, with Governor Brian Schweitzer decisively winning a second term.
Democrats will also hold down the offices of Attorney General, State Auditor, Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Secretary of State.
Billings Representatives Kendall Van Dyk and Dennis Himmelberger both say that regardless of which party has the majority, they'll work together to better Montana.
"I think that we can get past the majority/minority differences that we maintain and move together to protect some of the things that Montanans hold dear" stated Van Dyk.
"I've spoken to some of those in Democrat leadership in the House, and we're all on board to work together and get our job done" added Himmelberger
