I am sitting on the frontier between Jordan, Syria and Israel - just a few metres from the exact point the all three countries touch - about 47 metres below sea level here - and watched it for about an hour tonight - the desert sky is very clear tonight.

If you have the chance - get outside and see it - magnificent!

I saw it last night and didn't know what I was looking at but thought it looked pretty nice. Tonight we had a bit of cloud cover so wasn't as spectacular but I knew what I was looking at. :D

Broke Cowboy, I hope ya stay safe! Are you in the service? How long til ya come back?

Yes - old fighter pilot in the Canuck Air Force - stuck on a ground job patrolling the frontier - alone and sometimes very afraid. :D Usually quite calm but always very volatile.

4 different nationalities, 2 sub national players, a handfiul of political parties, a couple dictatorships, one democracy, two international terrorist groups, criminal and drug activity, three main religions - and a schitt locker full of hatred.

From one side mainly. Email is monitored so I will not name it.

We patrol in the middle of it every day and most nights in our nice jeeps and on foot. 10 of us - God looks after drunks and fools they say - no booze here so you know what that means! :)

19 more months to go - 24 month tour - get to see the family for two weeks (R&R flights home) at a time - three times over the next two years. Wife and kids are the strong ones.

Raise cattle with the family when I am home. Miss it more than I ever thought I would - sold almost all of them before I came over - wife is down to 20 or 30 head - far cry from before - she runs the place now.

Not so bad though - a few of my folks were gone from 1939 to 1944 and one Uncle did not get back until 1946 - he was a Japanese prisoner and lost a leg in the camps.

Stars were really good last night - and the little jackals were singing to beat the band - sorry for the rambling hijack

Thanks for the thoughts

Well there wasn't much to see where we are unless you like looking at a steady deluge of snowflakes. - man, we got winter here here 3 weeks already. Still about 20% of the corn out around here. Bad news.

B.C., my thoughts will be with you. And may His hand be over you and yours. (Not that you are a fools or a drunk . . . )
