Besides new luxury jetliners- now they want to spend 400 million taxpayer dollars to name the Mets new stadium-- Citi Field
And other recipients are spending Millions of taxdollars for SuperBowl ads...
Thanks GW/Paulson for your careful doling out and oversight over the Bush Bailout taxdollars that were supposed to provide credit to jumpstart the country....  :(

Two Congressmen are urging Treasury to force Citigroup to pull out of its $400 million naming rights deal for the Mets' new stadium.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The government forced Citigroup to cancel its order for a brand new $50 million corporate jet. Now, two Congressmen are hoping that the Obama administration will convince the beleaguered bank to scrap its naming rights deal with the New York Mets.

The Mets are moving into a new baseball park this year and Citigroup (C, Fortune 500) agreed in 2006 to pay $400 million over 20 years to have it named Citi Field.

But that deal, like the planned purchase of the jet, has come under scrutiny from Congress now that Citigroup has received $45 billion in taxpayer bailout money, as well as a government backstop for more than $300 billion in loan losses.

With that in mind, House members Dennis Kucinich, D-OH, and Ted Poe, R-TX, this week urged Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner to intervene.

"Citigroup is now dependent on the support of the federal government for its survival as an institution. As such, we do not believe Citigroup ought to spend $400 million to name a stadium at the same time that they accept over $350 billion in taxpayer support and guarantees," Kucinich and Poe wrote.

Citi group was a big backer of the Obama campaign, the saudis own how much of that bank, Obama wants how much oil in the next few years?

Thats the reason we need an alternative energy program NOW....

You mean like off shore drilling?

Partly--but we need to look past using just oil-- and develop more clean coal plants, wind, solar, biofuels, vehicles that will run on biofuels and electricity, hybrids, etc. etc. ALL-- so we don't have to rely on just oil to hold us hostage...

Exxon Mobil sets record with $45.2 billion profit

HOUSTON – Exxon Mobil Corp. on Friday reported a profit of $45.2 billion for 2008, breaking its own record for a U.S. company, even as its fourth-quarter earnings fell 33 percent from a year ago.

The previous record for annual profit was $40.6 billion, which the world's largest publicly traded oil company set in 2007.

The extraordinary full-year profit wasn't a surprise given crude's triple-digit price for much of 2008, peaking near an unheard of $150 a barrel in July. Since then, however, prices have fallen roughly 70 percent amid a deepening global economic crisis.

How many jobs did Exon provide while making that profit?

What will happen in the patch if they don't make one?

Yes Clean coal is great, It's fairly new technology. They were testing some of the tech at the Poplar River power station. So give tax breaks to change, Oil companies are buying CO2, Clean coal will come online but your don't build a coal fired generating station overnight.

Have you converted your place to Green power. Have you installed and solar or wind systems to reduce your drain on the grid?

Say OT you got a new vehicle not that long ago. Was that a Prius, or different brand of Hy-bred?

Nope- still too expensive...They are building a clean coal electric plant near Great Falls- and the Air Force is building a coal gasification plant at Malmstrom...Hopefully this stimulus package will get several of those clean coal plants up and running (I think it talks of 4) ...

While I think we'll be using oil for 50-70 years or maybe more-- we've got to get off being dependent on foreign countries for it...

Some experts say ND, MT, WY have enough coal under them to generate power for the country for 600-1000 years....

To expensive? Gee MAAAAAYBE if you had a tax break to convert you could affords some new technology. Solar panels have come down in price lately you can get wind generator that mount right on your house. How much personal commitment have YOU made to alternative energy use or is it "Oh mister Obama you have to do this for me".

Thats the reason we need an alternative energy program NOW....

Just so you know OT, a V82 is worth about $600,000.

Where I live (New York), a single Vestas V82 wind turbine placed near the Lake Erie coastline would produce more than 5400 MW-hr/yr. This one turbine would thus be the equivalent of 17 bbls/day of oil used to make electricity. And a lot of oil is burned to make electricity in New York State, in addition to significantly more natural gas."

"Thus tit would take 706 Vestas V82 wind turbines to produce the same amount of electricity that could be made with your
12,000 bbl/day oil well."

"However, if the oil was some of the sour Caspian Sea variety (15wt % sulfur), then the V82 would be the equivalent of about 20 bbls/day of oil."

So it would take about $423 million (wind turbines) to equal $576,000 in oil, at $40/barrel

Good Luck with that!

Nope just plumb happy with the rural electric cooperative right now-- which this country needs too....Thats how this country got to be as great as it was- working together on new projects-- be it the building of the railroad system- electrification of America- or our interstate highways system....
And as a country we will work our way past the dependence on foreign oil....We can thank the Bush/Cheney oilmen for that....

SO you must have signed up to pay the extra levy to get supplied with Green power for your operation? That's how they fiance those turbine you know?

Reader, you need to read a little more to educate yourself, The saudis own a fair chunk of these banks, they donated to Obama's campaign.

They donate to everyone apparently, which makes sense.

I'm sure their donations have the best interests of the US citizens at heart.
