Yesterday I moved the pairs onto better feed. They're starting to spread out which is great! :D Calving is starting to wind down, and I'm hoping for more sleep soon  . Last night, during the 2am check, I pulled a backwards calf, so I better not sleep just yet, even though it's soooo tempting!

I also brought a horse in today. I usually use a wheeler, or bring stuff in on foot, but there's no ice, so I figured I'd try Joe, my little bay horse, who's been lame a year and a half :? . Today he seemed sound, and was just as good as the last day I rode him :D . Don't you just love those good, honest horses!

Things are looking real good down there. Little Joe looks good to. It is terrible icy around here so I don't think I will venture out on a horse for a while. I rode three in the indoor round pen late this afternoon. Old gelding i hope to sell and a couple young ones I need to get going for calving. At 4 and 5 they should have been used more already. Atleast it wasn't cold. In fact it was a very nice day, had some water running out of the pens. :D

What make of saddle is that?

Good looking calves. We are in the thick of it, at least it has warmed up and they can calve outside now. Of course, they have also slowed down now that it is so nice  . But it is supposed to stay nice, so they will have to give in sooner or later. Water was running today at +12 C for high. No riding for me yet, just too darn slippery.

It's a McCall Lady Pendleton... nice, narrow seat and very comfortable. The only saddle I've found which doesn't hurt my knees at all :D .

Everythings looking good!!! Nice that your grass isn't flat like ours. We put borium on our shoes in the winter...makes a huge differnce on ice, frozen ground, and rocks. Glad your first ride went well :)
