Thought I'd share some of the jokes and rumors floating around concerning the Blagojevich scandal.
It seems most of the mail to the governor has come to a screeching halt. Etiquette requires that a governor be addressed as The Honorable Whomever. Apparently people are getting an error message on their computers when they try to begin a letter with "The Honorable Rod Blagojevich."
In the true spirit of bipartisanship, we in Illinois believe that former governor George Ryan (a Republican now in prison for corruption) and Blagojevich (a Democrat probably headed there) should share a prison cell.
It's no secret here that our Attorney General, Lisa Madigan, and our Lt. Governor, Pat Quinn, both are lusting after the governor's job, not to mention Obama's senate seat. Both are Democrats that have been at odds with Blagojevich, so they've got that going for them. Even though both came up through Chicago politics, they've been free of any major scandals so far. (We don't have time for minor scandals here). Anyway, here's my prediction: Blagojevich resigns or is impeached and Quinn becomes governor. Quinn appoints Madigan to fill the vacant senate seat. Everybody's happy. God, I love Illinois!!
