ATLANTA --
ATLANTA (AP) Investigators say more than 100 educators should face scrutiny or punishment after they found evidence of cheating at 58 schools in Atlanta.

A panel convened to investigate the cheating allegations released a summary of its findings Monday to city school officials. It did not name the educators suspected of cheating.

Its review showed that 78 employees suspected of changing student answers on a statewide test worked at a dozen schools that require major changes.

Investigative panel chairman Gary Price said the remaining educators appear to have acted independently.

The Atlanta Board of Education began the probe after the state ordered that 191 schools in Georgia be examined because of unusual numbers of erasures on a 2009 test.

This is what happens when we try to implement programs to make teachers accountable.......Like No Child Left Behind.

This is no surprise and investigators would probably find similar behavior in all the states. Here in Texas, there have been several reports of cheating, with teachers involved, surrounding the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) tests given annually so the school can get higher academic ratings. And I'm sure the "no kid left behind" program has something to do with it also.
