I am pretty sure we live in the driest county in SD, and the least populated. Coincedence???? Something like 1300 folks in 2500 sq. miles. I was reading a book yesterday where a guy was moving out of an area, and his good friend and neighbor was helping him move. The friend said that he hated to see him go, but was always glad to help people move out of an area, as it was already too crowded for him. And it was an area about as sparsely populated as we are.
Another good story was told to the newspaper by a neighbor of Liberty Belle's. It was an article about he population drop here, right after the last census. He was telling about someone from WAY back east that said she really loved our country here, but thought it was too desolate and harsh for her to live here. He told her that was fine, as it was already to crowded, and we didn't want her here anyway. It was sort of tongue in cheek, but humorous anyway.
Most of our country is open, and rolly plains, but we do have buttes, creeks, badlands, and such thrown in it keep it interesting.
