More sad news from BC

Just got an e-mail from my papa. My cousin Laurie passed away this morning. She was in a care home in Kelowna, Lori had a severe mental handicap caused by too much oxygen at birth.

Unfortunately the coroner is involved as her passing was totally unexpected and things look suspect. My poor Auntie, she lost my uncle to cancer in the spring and now her oldest daughter.

That's terrible news Judith, sorry about your loss. I hope everything works out with the coroners investigation, I'm sure your aunt doesn't need that piled on top of everything else she is dealing with.
Take care

It's bad enough to have a death in your family, without there being "suspecions" too............. :(

Prayers for your family..............and a ((((((((((((( hug )))))))))))) for you!

Thanks a bunch guys. I'll keep you posted on the findings. I did'nt know Lori well, but I am sure sad for Anne. She is a wonderful lady and she really did not need this to happen now. Just getting here life wrapped around my uncle's passing. I have never seen two more happily married people. The rest of her daughters are coming home and then my Dad (Anne's older brother) and mom will be with her shortly. Support is on the way.

Apparently there is an awful lot of brusing on her body. But it would be very hard to tell if it is natural or self inflicted. She could be quite violent at times. She had been just moved from another facility where there was indeed injury being cause to the patients. You have to wonder about a person who would hurt a defenseless person

Unfortunatly we're finding this is happening more and more in the care facilities,In Alberta now they are revising the training, and hiring procedures that go into hiring people for these places...there is also A "Protecting People in Care"Government Policy, that anyone abuses or knows of abuse and doesn't report it will be dealt with by the law.Its a heads up in the right direction....Really sickens and angers me this type of thing goes one

Sorry Judith. I just hate to hear of deals like this. I hope there isn't any wrong doing involved. That just creates more pain and questions. Either way it's bad. My condolences.

Keep an eye on the Kelowna news, i am sure we will see something on there faster than the family will find anything out. Sad to say often the family is the last to know about anything. Dad will let me know what is going on tommorow as he is flying in from Edmonton in the morning.

Judith, it doesn't surprise me she may have been beaten, it happens alot in special care facilities. Even in old folks' homes. Our prayers to you and your family, we hope you can get to the bottom of her death. I hope not abuse........

really hard to say, she was quite violent at times. So even trying to restrain her she could have been bruised and banged up. I just hope that everything turns out OK. Auntie is tough but I don't think that anyone should have to wonder about the saftey of loved ones who are in care. Pretty long day for my dad, his baby sister is very special to him and he can't stands seeing any of us sad. He has e-mail me like 1000 times so far tonight so it can't be easy for him .

Sorry to hear of your loss. Please know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I hope and pray that the investigation doesn't find any abuse. No matter how you slice, that is just wrong.
