Most Want GOP to Work With Obama, GOP Voters Disagree
Thursday, November 08, 2012

Most voters feel it’s more important for Republicans to work with President Obama than stand up for what their party believes in. GOP voters overwhelmingly disagree, even as their party’s congressional leaders reach out to Obama to make a budget deal.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 46% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the president set the right tone for the future with his victory speech Tuesday night. Thirty-two percent (32%) disagree and think he did not set the right tone. Twenty-two percent (22%) are not sure.

I would be willing to bet that most want the president to work with the repubs a swell. But we know how that will turn out, just like he worked with them on health care.

I thought you were a Gary Johnson supporter. So why do you post all this
Obama stuff here? Could it be that you support Obama too?

I want the country and government to work-- and just saying NO will not cut the mustard anymore ...
And apparently unlike you-- the majority of the rest of the country sees that...

Sure I want the country to suceed. Working together means both parts
have to give and take. Show me one time when the president has
tried to work with the Repubs. Unlike you, I know it can't all be one-sided.
It takes two to tango.

i agree it is too bad that the Dems don't want to get along as evidenced by their long trail of partisanship and especially Harry Reid the last couple days even say he wasn't going to try and get along.

Well-- on Nov. 6th the country just gave Obama more of a mandate-- and even this Repub biased polling site sees it...

Anyone with a brain knows that this country wasn't designed for the winner to have free reign. Those who disagree serve a purpose and that is to be a check and balance of this system. Anyone with any smarts at all knows that. You do know that don't you ot?

But the incumbent was re-elected...
And his party holds 2/3 of the law making area-- both the administrative and a house of congress (Senate)..

Folks are tired of the kick the can down the road game-which is what this survey says...

I don't think the Repubs are in a position of power right now- unless they want to go down further in 2014- and want Hillary in 2016...

Again with the "Majority of the Country" crap Oldtimer 46% of likely voters is not a majority of the country when the other 54% of LIKELY VOTERS don't see Obama like you do. And according to your posted poll that is of LIKELY VOTERS that means 40% of the country was not asked as they were not considered "LIKELY VOTERS". SO please stop with the majority of the Country crap. At best it is a minority of voters supporting Obama with the majority just not sure of him or really done care about him.

Is this what you call compromise Oldtimer the Republicans are not in power so they have to stop supporting the interests of those that voted for them? Is that what 200 years of COMPROMISE HAS COME TO IN YOUR BOOKS. Sorry but those that voted for a Republican candidate deserve to have their representative stand up for their interest whether they are in power or not.

Only an idiot would think that the founding fathers set this up this way and then expect the Reps to go along with any and everything the leftwingers propose. It is their job to challenge their thought. Everyone knows that unless they are stupid. you do know that don't you ot?

Who actually believes these surveys?? How do you know they aren't lying???

A few months ago I found out George Soros owns snopes..... I don't trust that man any farther than I can throw him.... he's a skunk....

Lying about a survey to manipulate the people into becoming complacent.... so they "think" they are in a minority with their thinking....

Let's speak honestly here, okay.

What made America the greatest country the world has known for some time? I'll tell you. It was mainly the result of the work ethic, risks taken, and blood, sweat, and tears of its white, anglo-saxon protestant majority who have always been suspicous of government and its intentions.

And I can say this with clarity as a descendant of French catholic immigrants who grew up in Louisiana. I always wondered why Louisiana was akin to a Banana Republic. Now I know why.

America is changing, rapidly. Twenty years ago I'd encounter people speaking spanish in Houston, but that was mostly hotel and restaurant staff. Today? I bet I could spend a week in Houston and not have to ever speak English.

Miami? Forget about it. When I'm there, all I speak is Spanish.

Latinos, for the most part, are wired differently than the folks that made America great. I'm not saying there aren't some truly wonderful Latinos in America. There most certainly are, many who have fought and died for the country.

But when you're born and raised in a household that speaks no English, when you know more about Mexican history than US history, when your culture is one that looks to politicians for answers and help, how the heck is one really expected to fight for AND preserve what made America great?

And I can say that with clarity as I've lived and worked in Mexico and S. America for many years now. And "the other side" isn't evil, they just don't know any better.

Most want the president to work with Congress too...no more of this "I won" BS. Today's speech didn't give much hope.

Another said by 78 percent they believe ZERO percent of his ramblings

The other 22percent could not take the survey, no one was available to tell them how to answer.
