UnemployedOver26Weeks.jpg

The latest unemployment data released today paint a somewhat disheartening picture—the jobless rate remains at 10 percent, and the economy shed 85,000 jobs last month—especially for this reason: Although jobs were lost, the unemployment rate held steady from the month before, meaning a large number of people had simply given up looking for a new job.

As you'll see, those 6.13 million people unemployed for more than 26 weeks constitute 4 percent of the civilian workforce—a record since the the Bureau of Labor Statistics started collecting this data in 1948.

seems to me that the Obama administration hasn't got a handle on how to fix anything yet... hopefully over the next three years they can learn enough and get enough experience to solve a few issues.

Cape Wind, the hotly contested proposed offshore wind farm in Massachusetts’ Nantucket Sound, suffered a major setback on Monday when the National Park Service (NPS) announced that the site should be eligible for protection as a historical place. While the decision is being touted as a victory for two Massachusetts Native American tribes,

The New York Times gave a good rundown on this latest roadblock, which was spurred by a request from two local tribes that claim the turbines would impede their religious practice by blocking the view of the sunrise and intrude on historic burial grounds.

I wonder how many "Native Americans" live in or near Massachusetts’ Nantucket Sound?

(482 acres), and a 2000 census resident population of 91 persons. ,... and they have also purchased land in Middleborough, Massachusetts upon which to build a casino.

so a windmill is unacceptable, but a casino is fine?...

two tribes are listed as being opposed.. The Aquinnah and Mashpee Wampanoag tribes

1.
Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah)

but one is a branch of the other..

after a quick look at the MotherJones site.. I find it an interesting point to see how the some are portraying the "news"
