Thirteen head of calves to brand

They are out of some cows I purchased last fall. This bunch ran separate in a small lot all last winter and this spring. They had a couple
bale rings full of hay, and they calved on their own.

Some of these early calves were pretty salty rascals.

And making tags. These calves were the only ones on the place that didn't get tagged as they were born.

I remember when folks used to live in a house in these trees.

Sacked cattle feed was sold out of a storage building. They ran a trucking business. After hauling cattle to Sioux City and Omaha, cake
and other feed was hauled back in sacks. Many times in my early years, I went with my dad to load cake from a loading dock out of the
building. Now these old trees are all that is left of what was quite a busy operaton in the 1950's and '60's.
