You missed this;

MRJ, "So far as diverse groups working together for a common goal.....How is what you praise R-CALF for doing right.......and NCBA working with packers or retailers on occasion wrong........especially when the goal is selling more beef, as in NCBA's partnering occasionally with other industry entities (packers and retailers, for instance)? I won't, at this time, go into the real and potential for damage of R-CALF partnering with so called consumer groups falsely advertising that BSE poses a human health risk when science indicates SRM removal leaves the beef safe. "

NCBA and AMI’s goal is selling more beef. R-CALF’s goal is selling more US BEEF. Please answer me this, MRJ; If beef consumption were to double, but all of it came from Brazil and Australia, how would that affect the profitability of your ranch?

I haven't checked AMI's goals lately, but NCBA's "goal" is profitability of the cattle industry for cattle producers in the USA.

Wringing our hands and whining that we can't possibly compete in the world market is not going to solve any problems!.

People who see opportunity in challenges are the ones who will survive and prosper in tough times.

I do not believe your scenario for the importation of beef eliminate US cattle producers is going to happen overnight, if ever. Diseases, unstable governments, local climates, and more will play currently unknown parts in the situation.

I do believe US cattle producers are going to have to become better producers, using their resources ever more creatively and productively, however.

I do not believe limiting how we can market our cattle and refusing to ID our cattle after the hide is off is going to make us more competitive in a world market.

Did you see NCBA's answer to the question Ben posed them about South America? "We believe in free trade". They couldn't answer a straight forward revelant question, either! Do they know what is going on? Do they ever take time to read a newspaper? What both infuriates and scares me is that these folks are in Washingon influencing legislation! I just want to grab Truitt by the neck and yell WAKE UP!!!!! I guess when you get your information from Steve Dittmer and the AMI......

Since the beginning of NCBA,
What has been the long term trend in beef per capita consumption?
...beef's market share?
...total USA beef production?
...total number of beef producers?
...size of the USA cattle herd?
...the producers share of the consumers dollar?
