Another group taken in 2008, a dry year and it was about 100 degrees. The trails were deep and dusty. Some of the mares with colts were pretty poor. With no place to hide, I was laying on my back, taking the pictures over my toes. All of these mustangs were headed for water.
On the other side of the mountain at Brown Spring, things looked a little better. The mustangs were in better shape.
We found this band later in the day, after a mile hike up a dry wash.
As a bonus, these came by while we were under a cedar tree,,, shaded up.
