This is a story of a mustang stud horse that though he knew what was happening,,, but really didn't.

The mares saw us and headed out of the country.

Mr. Stud Horse was in a frenzy to get the mares headed in the direction he wanted to go.

I've got a soft spot for red roan mares. :D I broke one to ride starting her bareback and she was just the nicest mare do anything for you and go anywhere. I was gone to college that winter and when I came home I found out Dad had sold her. :?

That's a sad story........

We've had red roan horses but never a good one. I know that it has
nothing to do with color, but that's been our experience. Course we've had
some other colors that weren't the best too. I always wanted a BLACK horse.
Some people we kinda knew had a black horse and didn't have time
to ride him. He was a gentle thing, so I took him to ride. Boy, was I happy.
He was a pretty, glossy black BLACK. I started riding him and there was
definitely something wrong with him. He'd get his feet tangled up and
just wasn't co-ordinated at all, poor thing. I started watching him when he
was in the corral. I finally decided he was just retarded. He couldn't help
it. I felt bad for him, but I stopped riding him before he fell down with me.

We had a blue roan mare that made our daughter a nice enough horse.
She was thin and bred when we got her. She was covered in ticks and this was
long enough ago--like 40 years-- that we still roached horses manes. We
roached hers and it was crawling with ticks. YUK. We put stuff on her to
kill the ticks, of course and we called her "TICKIE" after that. :D
