We found them close to a two track road and thought we were in for another "get in the middle of the herd" day, but they had other ideas. They took off away from the road and headed north. We found a way to get in head of them and was feeling pretty smug. We were all set to get some close pictures, but we got no cooperation. They turned off again and left us wondering if it was our brand of deodorant. This was the first time they had ran from us while in the pickup. We could tell they were headed for water, so we just followed along at a distance.

There were about a hundred head of cows hanging around the water, but the mustangs eased them away in a few minutes. The trough must have been about dry because the bay stud took over immediately.

The cow didn't get much sympathy.

It was easy to tell who his friends were.

Some made feeble attempts to bluff him out.

Some tried to drink the thicker brand out of the over-flow puddle.

This old boy gave up and ran the mares away from the trough.

There was no question about who was in charge.

We were there about an hour and he was still guarding an empty trough.

These pictures were taken in November of this year. which is the last of my pictures. Sooo, I probably won't be posting much in the future, so as to not do "re-runs". When I get something that I feel is worthwhile, I'll consider posting them.

Best wishes for the New Year.
