The drought

Rain falling from the sky
Pitter Patter, pitter pat.
If it wouldn’t have rained, we would all die
The big, big drops roll off the brim of my hat.

The plants, the trees, the grass,
All turned brown in the drought
I sit on the stream watching the bass,
As they jump around and all about.

My horse stands and crops
The rain rolls off my brim
It falls from the sky in big drips and drops
I’m dripping wet, soaked to the skin.

And I sit there by the stream
She walked over and sat beside me
And laid her head on my shoulder, like it were a dream
I don’t know how, I just can’t see!

She said she loved me and left then,
She said she hated me, and she came back
As life went on, she ran to me like a heifer in the pen
Maybe now I wont have to live alone in my bachelor’s shack…
